After foolishly trying an HDMI switcher that I purchased at Radio Shack and then not getting a connection between my DVR and TV, I moved on to this excellent device for only $30 more. Installation involved plugging in the HDMI cables. There is no need to use the remote control when you have only two devices because the Oppo defaults to the DVR box and then switches to the Blue Ray DVD when that is turned on.Digital camera Review: Excellent for use as PC display switch

Most of the reviewers are using the OPPO HM-31 for their home entertainment needs; I'd like to add that this switch is the best choice for using multiple PCs with high resolution displays. I have a 23-in Apple Cinema Display that I wanted to use with my MacBook Pro _AND_ my Dell desktop. Unlike my Sony 23-in LCD, the Apple display does not have multiple DVI inputs, so I needed a switch that could support 1920x1200.
The first thing I discovered when looking around for DVI switches was that all of them had maximum resolutions of 1600x1200. The Iogear units that supported 1600x1200 were pathetically expensive. While the Iogear has support for switching USB devices (keyboard and mouse), I really find it sad that it can't handle today's high-end displays. For me, getting maximum use of my high definition display using the OPPO HM-31 is more important than keyboard/mouse switching and you can always use your old KVM for handling keyboard and mouse switching.
The auto-sensing inputs in the HM-31 will make having the OPPO and your old KVM together a non-issue. Once you turn on the appropriate display input, in my case, my MacBook Pro or my Dell PC, the HM-31 will switch to that input on its own, leaving you to just tell your KVM to switch to the right machine. While it might sound like I'm just gushing, the praise is well placed. I have not had any problems using this device as a PC display switch; all I needed were DVI-to-HDMI cables to connect my devices to the HM-31 and I was in business. I wish I could say the same for my quirky KVM I'm using in tandem with it.

Works exactly as intended.
Hooked this up to my Dish HDDVR and my 42" plasma and it works flawlessly.
Very cheap when you consider you are adding 2 more HDMI ports.
Very solid build quality. This isn't a cheap plastic box that feels like there's nothing inside like so many of these types of products do. It also comes packaged in a nice fabric sleeve with the OPPO brandname on it.
You don't need to know anything else! Buy this!

I needed a HDMI switch unit and OPPO was recommended by a co-worker based on other purchases he had made of their products. I have to say he was right. The unit functions perfectly and very is easy to operate. It switches HDMI sources atomically based on priority (which socket you plug each source unit into) but it can be changed with all the units on by using the credit card sized remote. Picture quality is like the source was plugged directly into the monitor itself.Digital camera Review: Excellent product !
