This product works according with the description.
I needed it to connect several HDMI signals to my new Denon 7.1 receiver. It has two HDMI inlets and with Blu Ray player, a HD DVD player, satellite box, etc. I needed to expand the possibilities.
It works in a transparent way. I only need to turn on any of the players or satellite box and the Switch recognizes it and send the signal to my receiver.
Being HDMI 1.3 certified, none of the characteristics is lost (audio or video) and there are not handshaking problems.
It is a bargain and a very good investment if you need to connect more HDMI equipment than the inlet connections that you have in your AV receiver or TV.

My HDTV only has one HDMI input and I not have my satellite receiver and blu-ray player that output through HDMI. This product solves the problem of not enough HDMI inputs on your tv and it integrates perfectly with universal remotes such as the Harmony series. Once set up, it will switch between the components by remote control. I've never had any trouble with it.
If your HDTv doesn't have enough HDMI inputs for your devices, this is the product you need.

I recently purchased a less expensive HDMI switch, only to discover that it failed miserably. Everything worked fine except for my Brighthouse SA8300 HDC DVR, I couldn't hear any audio (yet my other devices worked fine). I searched long and hard and finally found a review on Amazon for the OPPO HM-31 HDMI switch; another person had a similar issue with the SA8300 cable box and found that the OPPO worked.
So for those in a similar situation, here's one more confirmation that the OPPO is an excellent HDMI switch that is compatible with almost any device (including the thorn in my side, the SA8300). The picture quality is perfect, audio is excellent, and works flawlessly with my Xbox360, Sony BluRay player, and my Scientific Atlanta 8300 HDC DVR!
What's even better than the great device compatibility is the auto-switching feature; I don't need to use the included remote control, or press a button on the switch to change inputs. The OPPO HM-31 automagically switches to a new device when it turns on (based on port priority), so I can neatly tuck away my switch out of sight (even though it looks great).
For those looking for an HDMI switch, stop looking and get the OPPO...it works great straight out of the box.

I have the OPPO HM-31 routing my DishNetwork feed, DVD Player and Wii.
Works like a charm. I have it configured so the Dish Sat feed is furthest downstream. When any other component is active it overrides the Sat. I don't ever need to use the remote.
