Digital camera reviews of Olympus 1 GB Type M xD-Picture Card ( 200495 )

Digital camera Review: Bigger is better!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I got my digital camera, I was a little dismayed that it only came with a 32 MB memory card which was good for about 18 pictures at a time. So when I went online to look for a bigger memory card I was glad to see xD Picture cards came in sizes up to 1 GB. The xD picture card needs some kind of adapter to be used with most hardware (a USB memory stick-style adapter, a Flash media adapter, etc.) or you can just use the cable that comes with most digital cameras to download your files straight to your computer from your camera. I slipped the new 1 GB card into my camera and was very gratified to see that I could take 700+ pictures (not that I would, but it's nice to have options) and since my camera has a video option I could actually use it for awhile without filling my memory card! Admittedly, getting such a big card is a bit like putting all you eggs in one basket (some people would prefer 2x 512 MB cards for flexibility), but I think of it as one less thing to worry about and I have more than enough memory capacity to take all the pictures I want. Even at $85-$90, a good deal.

Digital camera Review: Can Card be used with DS-2200 Digital Voice Recorder???
Summary: 3 Stars

I am most likely going to purchase an Olympus DS-2200 Digital Voice Recorder, for doing audio History of many Seniors I know, and most likely, many I don't know yet.

It would be very helpful for me to know if this is compatible with the DS-2200.

The one review I did read, said that it took approximately 2-3 times longer to load into memory, in his Olympus Camera, so because I am still ignorant on this, I will possibly not buy this larger capacity card, before my fairly urgent purchase. (A 96 yr. old, extremely close friend, is likely, dying as I write this.

I will make one attempt to contact Olympus 1st.

If anyone knows the answer, please post it.

Thanks,

Tall Paul

Digital camera Review: Decent
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this card for My Olympus E-Volt 500. Later I decided to switch to a 4GB Transcend Compact Flash card that wrote much faster than my XD card. I am a bigger fan of Compact Flash because the write speeds are much faster. Even high speed XD doesn't compare.

Digital camera Review: Did not recieve product to review
Summary: 1 Stars

There was a mix up with mailing address so did not recieve the product, so no review available.

Digital camera Review: Does what it is supposed to do...
Summary: 5 Stars

It is a 1GB XD card and seems to work just as it should. I use it with an Olympus SP-350 (8 megapixel) camera and it holds a ton of pictures. On the SHQ resolution setting the large files can take a couple seconds to write or read, but I think this is to be expected. If you have an Olympus camera this is the only XD card for you.
