Digital camera Review: Don't try this at home...

I had to write about this one...10 feet is what it says on the box. And I strongly suggest you follow that...but yesterday, I got took my 8 month old 850 to a depth of 90 feet! Yes, 90 feet...oh yea, the temp of the water was 46 degrees. Fired off about a dozen photos and some great video at Mermet Springs (www.mermetsprings.com) in southern Illinois. Camera did awesome. No issues at all. Earlier this year, I took this camera with me to the Keys & took some great photos and videos at 30 foot in warm water. But being a bit reckless with my camera yesterday proved to me what a great little camera this is. In fact, I think if I had any to sell in my bag, I could have sold them on the spot to other divers!!!
Quality of the photos and video is to be expected for a point and shoot. But I dare anyone w/o a thousand dollar rig to try a 90 foot dive with another point and shoot camera.

I bought this product for my family trip to Disney in August. I needed something that was waterproof so I can use in the waterparks, and it had to be small since I don't want to be carrying around my purse. So far it is great. It fits into my little wristlet so I know that I can walk around these parks without a bulky purse. I used it to our recent trip to an aquarium and the pictures taken inside without the flash were pretty good. It was dark in some areas, so those pics were a little blurry but I still need practice with the camera and all of its features. The other pics taken in the low light conditions were very good, and outdoor pics were great! I can't wait to use it underwater!Digital camera Review: Fantastic

This camera is exactly what I was looking for and I have been looking for some time now. I have had an Olympus camera before and liked it so it was no surprise that I love this one. I bought this for a trip to hawaii- Pictures are pretty good. Underwater pics good. Take it out and experiment with it before you use it on vacay. It has POOR battery life- VERY short, which is a big drawback. It also has a pretty poor zoom, but thats to be expected from the technical specs.
Overall its an ok purchase, but you can do without the underwater pics and get better vacay pics with other cameras.

We wanted a camera that was waterproof and shock resistant, primarily for backpacking and canoeing. We took the camera on a 7 day backpacking trip to Isle Royale in early June and it performed very well. It is a battery hog, tho. A second battery was a necessity. We used it in pouring rain with no problems and it survived the week bouncing in my pack and cargo pocket just fine. Since then I've held it underwater taking pictures of fish as they were coming to the net, again, no problems. Cons: battery life, lack of manual control over shutter speed/aperture, settings options default to original on power down. For the price, tho, it is a good point and shoot that is also waterproof and shock resistant.
