Digital camera reviews of Olympus VN2100PC Digital Voice RecorderDigital camera Review: Amazo-Digi-Corder Summary: 5 Stars
Amazing! I've been unable to write of late, but I've been talking a lot more. This is perfect and I the battery lasts ages. Sound quality is wonderful and it does a fairly good job of excluding ambient sounds. Even recorded my singing with it!
Digital camera Review: Awesome quality! Summary: 5 Stars
The quality of sound on this thing is awesome, for being so small and simple! It's really easy to transfer files to your computer, too. The only thing I don't like is that the software package doesn't allow you to browse individual files within each folder on the recorder to selectively transfer. Rather, when you tell it to transfer from folder A, it just transfers the files that aren't currently on your computer. That's fine and it's not a big deal, but it'd be nice to have the option.
Anyway, that's not a big enough problem to knock it down to 4 stars. The quality is great, it's easy to use, and you can carry it around in your pocket and not even know it's there. I'm very pleased with it!
Digital camera Review: Buy It! Unless you use a Mac Computer Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this recorder as a gift for my girlfriend, and it works great, the sound is good and the buit-in mic range is good too. I was dissapointed when I found that I can't sincronize it with a Mac. That's very bad, because I usually work with a Windows PC but my girlfriend work's with Mac.
I recomend this recorded, if you don't use Mac.
Digital camera Review: Cheap and effective Summary: 4 Stars
I don't know much about recorders, but I chose this one because it was much cheaper than other recorders in the same specs range.
I bring this recorder along when I'm reporting for my college newspaper or when I'm taking voice lessons. It has never really disappointed me. One thing I would recommend is never using the lower quality options to record--when you do the voices are still audible but are very irritating to transcribe.
Digital camera Review: DECENT FOR MONEY Summary: 3 Stars
I have used this several times for dictation. It is a bit distorted unless the speaker is within a few feet of recorder. Which is not an issue if you can drop this in your front pocket. On Olympus's website they do have a nice directional mic that looks like it could help if you are not within a few feet of your source. My only other valid complaint is the software to transfer to PC. For one, the directions on this are not found although pretty easy IF your pretty savy with hooking up external devices to pc. One thing I cannot figure out is how to email files and also how to convert so recordings can be burned onto CD. Overall, worth the money and no true regrets. Again, quality is ok but could be better and is pretty good if you can get the recorder a few feet from the person's mouth. Not really possible unless you are recording yourself. It really depends on what your recording and how high of quality you need. For class lectures, this would probably be fine provided you were in the very front of class room. To record self it is perfect.
