Digital camera reviews of Olympus WS-320M 1 GB Digital Voice Recorder and Music Player

Digital camera Review: Best digital voice recorder, mp3 and pen drive!!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I already have an Olympus voice recorder with 64mb and it is the best voice recorder I have ever seen. It is very simple and works very well, the sound is perfect when you use the hd function.
The time you have to record depends on the function you choose, but 1gb is a lot of space for any function.
I bought this one for my husband and he loved it too! We really recomend Olympus.
It works very well in Macintosh too, it is just drag the files and musics inside it, simple as a memory stick!
To be perfect it should only accept memory cards, so we could put more music inside, without reduce the time for recordings.
And it is important that you have rechargeable batteries!!
I bought it from Ant Online and they were great!

Digital camera Review: Better than my last digital voice recorder
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't agree with the previous poster's review saying that sound quality is poor with low signal-to-noise ratio. I've found this voice recorder better than my previous JNC model, and I've had success recording in a noisy environment. It's a good overall package for the following reasons:

- 1GB capacity is good for the price
- The USB connector is built in - no cable to remember to pack
- It appears as a regular disk for both Mac and PC - no proprietary drivers needed
- It works on a single AAA battery, which means you don't have to wait for it to recharge -- you can just pack replacements when you go to a conference, swap em out and keep recording.
- It records in WMA format (not ideal, but at least you can easily play it on PC or Mac -- the free, open-source VLC player works well for Mac).
- Recordings are stereo and although not CD quality, it's closer to it than a lot of compact digital voice recorders in a lower price range.
- Menu system and controls are pretty easy to work -- the screen is high enough resolution to display a few lines of text, so you don't get cryptic messages to deal with.

I agree that the plastic casing does conduct sound from handling or movement, and it doesn't feel like a player that would survive being dropped too many times, but then again, it's inexpensive.

Digital camera Review: Consider the Olympus WS series
Summary: 5 Stars

I read many of the reviews and decided to buy an Olympus WS digital recorder/player. I used it recently to re-record a taped interview of a witness in a pending trial into the digital format. Once the conversion was completed, I loaded the file into my computer and played it. The witness's voice was very clear and so were my questions.

Some of you were concerned about the slight hiss in your unit. I found a work around for those of you that like to listen to your voice recordings on the unit as opposed to the computer. I was able to load the interview file back into the Music folder on the Olympus and set it to the music mode. From there, I got into the menu for the equalizer and adjusted the USER setting to lower the 1kHz and 4kHz bars down to -10dB. In addition, I turned off the WOW SRS 3D and TruBass. The sound quality was comparable to what I had on the computer.

As to music, it is excellent with a sound quality comparable to an iPod.

ps: I'm planning on buying rechargable batteries.

Digital camera Review: Could be better
Summary: 3 Stars

I was greatly disappointed that this very expensive digital voice recorder did not include conversion software or a sound editor with it. I am using this equipment for weekly podcasts. I am now having a difficult time finding suitable software that will handle the editing and conversion process. In the meantime, I've reverted to using my three year old Sony digital recorder.

Surely, Olympus can do better than this...

Digital camera Review: Cute nice recorder and player
Summary: 4 Stars

Pros: Very good music player. Sound clarity is exceptionally good with nice bass booster. Easy file management and direct plug-in to your computer. Cute looking.

Cons: Need to change battery quite often. There is no slot available to increase the memory. Recording level is good only with external mike. Screen size is too small to read, but with the back light lit one can manage. Speaker out put( 100mw) is very low to listen
