Digital camera reviews of Olympus WS-320M 1 GB Digital Voice Recorder and Music Player

Digital camera Review: Decent Sound, Pathetic Construction
Summary: 3 Stars

I've had this product for a few years. The sound quality is decent and it does what its supposed to however its construction is pathetic. I had to taped the battery cover so I wouldn't loose it. I wouldn't recommend using it to listen to audio especially through its built in speakers because it will drain the battery very quickly. One more issue is its battery life. I take out the batter after every use or the batter would be dead if I wanted to use it the next time, and this seam to happen even if I separate the body from the battery cap.

Digital camera Review: Digital Voice Recorder
Summary: 5 Stars

I sing with a Sweet Adeline chorus and record rehearsals, as well as sing into my recorder for qualification. This is so much easier to carry than my old tape recorder. I just started using it so I'm anxious to learn all the added features I have at my fingertips.

Digital camera Review: Don't buy it for Dictation
Summary: 1 Stars

I see this gets fairly favorable reviews for music and lecture recording. I bought it to use in dictation, and have regretted the decision ever since, due to design defects and apparent manufacturing defects.

In the six weeks that I've had the Dictaphone (since its delivery), I have had the following, repeated problems:

1) The battery cover kept falling off: It was held shut by a little tab, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. After it fell off about 15 times, it fell off and got lost. That was actually a benefit, because now I don't have to put it back on all of the time.
2) Sometimes the data transfers just fine; other times it doesn't. There appears to be no rhyme ore reason as to what causes this.
3) The date and time is constantly wrong. I've reset it several times since I got the recorder, right now it's telling me that it's January 4, 2005.
4) It's impossible to cue back and listen to the immediately preceding words. I realize that with some effort you can set it up to cue back 2 seconds, but that option keeps defaulting away (perhaps related to the time warp), and if that feature's not set up, and the phone rings, and you answer it, you need to listen to everything that you've recorded in order to continue where you left off. Even if that cue is set up, sometimes you want to hear more than the last two seconds but less than everything that you've dictated.

Digital camera Review: Easy to use digital voice
Summary: 5 Stars

Simple to use and very handy. The instructions are clear. I like it alot. Enough storage space for recording messages.

Digital camera Review: Excellent Recorder
Summary: 5 Stars

Great recording ability, even small voices from afar the recorder is able to pick it up. The functions and buttons are very user friendly and self explanatory. It's easy to carry in your packet and easy to transfer the files to your hard-drive.
