Digital camera reviews of OmniMount CCH1B Center Channel Speaker Shelf

Digital camera Review: Pretty good - does what you need it to do.
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this shelf to hold my Klipsch center channel. It is a little bit of a science project to properly "size" the legs and shelf, especially since I have a low profile projection screen (Sony KDS-60A2020)But once in place it seems to be plenty sturdy. And, it stays out of view nicely.

Digital camera Review: Question ONLY
Summary: 3 Stars

Before I purchase this shelf I have a question that needs to be answered before I go ahead. How far do the legs of the shelf extend as I am looking for the legs to extend approx 6.5 to 7" to fit to my Sony TV. Can someone advise me. Thanking you in advance for this advice.

Digital camera Review: Satisfied customer.
Summary: 5 Stars

The price was right. The quality of the material and workmanship is very good. And it was easy to install. Arrival time of shipment was good, too. Over-all very satisfied.

Digital camera Review: Skinny LCD screen? Beware.
Summary: 2 Stars

This doesn't quite work on a really skinny LCD TV. Not without some workaround.

I'm putting a center channel speaker on mine. I had envisioned this tray as sitting flush with the front of my Viewsonic LCD. Like one of the reviewers has described (and pictured in the photos above), I liked the idea of flipping the tray over, and using its speaker-retention lip as a "grip" on the front of the TV bezel---instead of the ugly retaining pegs that ship with the tray. Well, if you force the tray to be flush with the front of the TV, then you have about 16" of tray sticking back behind the TV---and atop a skinny LCD chassis, there's no way those little back extension legs can find anything to grab onto. They're dangling in midair, and you still have 10-12" of unsupported metal tray. So on my TV, the only way to properly balance/support the tray is either 1) slide it forward, so several inches of it hang off the front of the TV, 2) build some rig that sits under the tray, behind the TV---basically giving it long legs---, or 3) push the TV and tray back until the tray hits a back wall, then screw some sort of prop into the wall to hold the back edge of the tray. I'm not real happy with any of these options.

I think the most harmonious solution would have been if the back legs telescoped out to 30-36". I suppose there would be some rigidity issues, and some may not like the extra appendages behind their TV, but at least the product would be functional for TVs of any thickness.

Digital camera Review: So far, so good...
Summary: 3 Stars

I have a Sharp 37" LCD and it is very thin. I was going to ship the stand back because the legs were about 5 inches from the TV. My wife suggested moving the legs forward a few holes. So far it looks and seems fine. I have about a 10lb speaker on it as well as an HD Cable receiver. If they crash, I will lose a lot of money and possibly damage the TV. I will see how it lasts for about a month, and if it works I will probably buy another.

UPDATE 10/24/08: So far this little stand has withstood the test of time and I would recommend it to my friends and family.
