Digital camera Review: Good Product...But!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this to mount on a Toshiba 32HL66 HDTV because it mentioned in the Technical Details here at the site it would work on most CRT's, DLP's, LCD's, projection TV's. The keyword here is projection TV's for an obvious reason, their dimensions are deeper. If your Flat panel is not at least 7 3/4" deep this shelf will not work for you unless you do as I did and came up with a modification for the rear leg assembly which I won't recommend. Like other reviews here I too had thought I didn't get the shelf pegs meant to overlap the top front of your TV. Looking carefully at the pictured illustration of all the parts, I had noticed the foot assembly in front of me(for rear support) didn't look exactly like that pictured, sure enough the front pegs were shipped attached to the foot assembly, so it's a good possibility others had overlooked this (not hard to do) and returned it thinking they were missing the shelf pegs. The shelf pegs are bare painted metal. I read at least one review that mentioned they scratched the front of his TV during installation. This can easily be avoided just by being somewhat careful, however I took the precaution of wrapping the peg with black electrical tape to cover the metal. It's virtually unnoticeble and protects the finish of your TV. 1/4" tubed black heatshrink would had been ideal, but I had none on hand. It would be a nice touch if the manufacturer would send these out with a black vinyl cover or the equivalent on these pegs. Oh well. Despite the forementioned quibbles I am happy with the product. It's well made and providing your TV goes deep enough you should be very happy with the results. It definately settled the what to do with the center channel speaker dilemna I had.

Digital camera Review: Good Quality, Solid Feel
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall, I am satisfy w/ the rack. The overall quality feels very solid and it seems to be of good quality. There isn't much to add in terms of positives that others have not mentioned already, so I will just focus on a few "small" negatives I noticed.

1) I did not have a choice but to install the rack upside down as suggested by another reviewer (thanks for the tip). The pegs that came w/ the rack was too long for my DLP (Mitsu. 65731). The bezel on the Mitsu is very thin. The pegs extended onto the screen. I guess this is not really the fault of the Omnimount, I thought maybe they should have included a shorter peg as an option, but this is just my opinion.

2) Even though the it feels very solid, I noticed the rack not being commpletely flat. It concaved upward when it is installed right side up. But this is not extreme, it is slightly noticeable when you lay it flat, but you will probably not noticed it unless you are inspecting the rack up close.

Even w/ these two small negatives, I am still satisfy w/ the rack. It does what it is suppose to and because of the rack is thin, you hardly notice it on top of the TV unless you are looking from the top.

Digital camera Review: Good idea if it fit any modern flatscreen
Summary: 3 Stars

I read some reviews about how this required a deeper display, but I ignored them because product description read 'fits on all modern displays' at the time of purchase. Looks like it has been updated now to reflect that it does not. If you have any flat panel display TV, it will not work, no matter how you set it up. For deeper TVs, it seems like a great idea. The front pegs definitely stand out (shiny) which may detract from your TV's look, and the rear supports use tape (which seems like it will eventually fail). The idea could be cool if you have an old TV, but if you don't you'll have to return it like me.

Digital camera Review: Good shelf or use it as a kit
Summary: 4 Stars

For the money, this is a nice shelf that does what it sets out to do. I used it to mount a 20lb center channel above my DLP set which has a very steep back.

The shelf can be assembled in several ways, depending on how your set is constructed. As another reviewer pointed out, you can also mount it upside down, using the front 'lip' of the shelf to hold it in place instead of the provided pegs. I did this as well, and it works great.

The shelf comes as essentially a bag of parts including the main shelf, legs, pegs, mounting feet, etc. I can imagine with a little creativity you could use this as a kit to create a shelf that would work with just about any set, providing longer legs from the hardware store, etc. as needed.

The legs attach to the back of the set using double-sided sticky pads. If your set gets very hot on the back surface you might want to consider replacing these with something else, or using another method to attach the feet. Also consider the shelf's depth, as if your set is very narrow it may stick out further than the TV back.

Digital camera Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered 2 of these Shelves. One to hold my HD receiver and one to hold my VCR/DVD player. I have a 55 in. RCA big screen tv and it worked just great. They don't look out of place and people who have came to my house haven't even noticed that they were sitting on top of the tv (I've asked them later). They blend right in. We, however, did turn them upside down (as someone on here had suggested) and they worked better. They are very sturdy. I recommend them highly to anyone that doesn't have the space for a very large cabinet as we did not or anyone that doesn't want to go to the expense of buying a separate cabinet.
