Digital camera reviews of One For All URC 4110 4-Device Universal Big-Button Remote ControlDigital camera Review: There are better for Seniors and Visually Impaired Summary: 3 Stars
This is a nice "little" remote. Works fine, just not as big as I thought. My mother is 88 and failing eyesight. Found a couple others after ordering this that are much better for her. The truly big one I bought is only a couple more dollars, but far easier for her to use.Super-Sized TV Remote See the review on it By Audacious440 "MOM/dad from oHIo" and listen to their advice. **This just added 6/19/08 in response to another reviewer's comment. Need to clarify.** The oversized remote is not a "gag" gift. My parent with macular degeneration and extremely arthritic hands finds it very useful.
Digital camera Review: Top-notch remote Summary: 5 Stars
This remote is everything I thought it would be. It's very easy to program. And, very easy to use. I don't have to get off the couch to operate the tv.
Digital camera Review: Very Disappointing Summary: 2 Stars
After such high hopes, I have been nothing but disappointed in this product. At first I could not get it to work with my small Sylvania TV. I tried not only the five codes given in the book, but all of the codes. I could, however, set up the SONY VCR connected to the TV. After sending an email to the company,I received instructions (pretty much the same as the book) to set the remote up. After numerous tries, it worked. However, the remote only works occasionally for the TV, some days off and some days on. It works all the time for the VCR. At least, it was not expensive, but I hate the thought of having to purchase another one and going through the same process again.
Digital camera Review: Very Good Universal Remote Summary: 5 Stars
I have used universal remotes for a lot of years now. I have always been a gadget guy so keeping the remotes around for my media setup, especially with kids, is just not practical. For several years I have been using this one for all remote. I have replaced the remote three times for a variety of reasons but have always returned to the same basic model.
You would think with being a gadget guy I would go in for a real expensive remote that could literally do everything. I have tried the more expensive remotes. Believe it or not I have not enjoyed anything more complex then this remote. The others are just too much work for relaxing. I like and my family likes the more relaxed usage of the simple one for all remote.
Pros:
- Inexpensive. Very easy to fit in a your budget.
- Easy to program.
- Works with just about any device even though the codes haven't been updated in a while.
- Nice large buttons.
- Button layout is logical and easy to get familiar with.
- Lasts a long time. I have broken or lost 3 but that is not the devices fault.
Negatives:
- This is not a learning remote. You can search for codes but you can't import functions from other remotes.
- Does not work well with DVD/VCR combos. This is the only reason I have considered moving up.
- Buttons do not light up or glow in the dark and that would be nice.
For the price I could not ask for much more.
