This is a tremendous value for the money. The sound is terrific, not too bass-heavy, very clear and powerful. I highly recommend it. Build quality, as with all Onkyo products I have owned, is top-notch. I will say that if you are looking for a bedside clock radio, look elsewhere, because the thing is large -- too large for a standard nightstand. I bought it for that purpose and realized that I had to put it across the room on my dresser because it was so large. I could still use it as a clock radio, but I had to use the remote to snooze, which is a bit unnatural. So I kept it as a bedroom CD player, and bought a standard clock radio to wake up to. Got mine for $175 delivered. Real happy with it as noted in my heading. It won't blow your necktie over your shoulder, but the sound fills my big living room with vaulted ceilings. Has a feature that pre-sets all the FM stations to the tuner, which is handy, and it set 17 FM stations for me, and they sound great. Remote works great from 15 feet. Setup was easy. And I LOVE the clean lines, unobtrusiveness and simplicity.
**NOTE**: Some reviewers are disappointed in the volume - be sure to read the manual, which explains how to reset the max volume from factory setting of #44 up to as high as #50. #45 and 46 are good and real loud, distortion takes over at 47 and up.
Overall, I'll have a lot of quality listening and fun with this thing for the money - chump change, really. I don't see how you can go wrong with this unit.

I bought this after returning the Bose Wave CD system ($499). And I must say that Bose will not be missed. The system looks good, has 4 alarms and includes iPod/iPhone dock. The sound, at least in my opinion, is as good as Bose Wave system. And best of all, it costs half the price of Bose.Digital camera Review: Good value but....

First of all, the unit I received was made in China and not in Malaysia as one of the other reviewers indicated. Personally, this is irrelevant.
The sound was pretty good but not what I expected from an Onkyo system even though this is a relatively small size all-in-one shelf system. I wasn't very impressed by the preset equalizer settings. The sound generally felt hollow compared to the Panasonic SA-PM15 that I wanted to replace and I wish it allowed independent adjustment of the base and treble settings. Generally sound fidelity was not super impressive and the very high frequencies appeared muted. However the sound quality was adequate for its class. Also it's one of the few better quality ipod docking systems available with an integrated cd player and has a radio, which is nice to have. The design is very pragmatic and Amazon.com's current price tag of $139.00 is nice. Overall a pretty good deal.

I was on the verge of buying a cambridge system for over $100 more, but thought I would give this a go based on the excellent reviews here and elsewhere. Having owned a couple of sub $100 ipod speaker sets, I was a little apprehensive about the likely sound quality of this system that seems to promise a lot at a low price. I am no expert but all I can say is - It Delivers. Bass is more than adequate, and volume loud enough to fill a 25' x 20' room without any distortion. FM reception is great using the supplied indoor antenna. A real plus is the portability of the unit with the easy carry handle. Very, very pleased with this purchase.
