Digital camera reviews of Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black)

Digital camera Review: Continuing with Onkyo....
Summary: 5 Stars

This unit replaces a TX-SR701 that I've had for about six years. That unit lost a solenoid. I bought this one to replace it and am pleased for the upgrade in the way it handles HDMI (which the other one did not). The sound is very clean. I have had ES series Sony and higher-end Yamaha, but find this unit to be a terrific value and with a sound that is actually more pleasing than the others. I am using the unit with high-end Paradigm speakers and couldn't be more pleased. I've owned 'em all but Onkyo is the only one I've bought twice in a row !!

PS: This unit is actually a step down in the Onkyo heirarchy, but I could not tell from its performance...at all.

Digital camera Review: Customer Service Sucks!
Summary: 2 Stars

I was pretty happy with the purchase initially and my low rating is only due to poor customer service. I was running it with a pair of Polk Audio Floor Standers and my PS3. After about 6 months, it started having a hum in most of the channels and it didn't go away with re-wiring and resetting the connections. I tried calling Onkyo but no response from the phone numbers listed. No reply to my emails either. I luckily had an authorized dealer nearby and I dropped it off there. It has been more than a month with the dealer and according to them, its still gonna take a 'few weeks' before its ready! Imagine an under warranty repair taking months! Amazon wont replace coz its been more than 30 days! I think Onkyo has compromised on its quality and I am certain my next receiver is going to be a more reputable brand with better customer service and better quality.

Digital camera Review: Customer service needs work
Summary: 3 Stars

Be prepared to wait for 10-15 min before you can hope to get someone on the phone. Cust. Service by itself seemed quite knowledgeable and very helpful.

Although product is easy to hookup, the manual isn't the easiest one to decipher and work with.

Liked the product so far.

Digital camera Review: DO NOT BUY if you want HDMI
Summary: 1 Stars

I'll keep this short, you don't have a lot of time, and neither do I.

There is a known defect that this product has that causes the HDMI daughter card to *stop working*. I bought it as an HDMI receiver to use my brand new 47" HDMI TV, and now a majority of the time it doesn't sync with the TV or components and I am left staring at a blank screen.

Other people have this problem, and if you are ok with dealing with Onkyo's customer service, great. Otherwise, move along and don't bother. There's too many other products from other brands that do what they say without having a core component stop working.

Digital camera Review: DO Not Buy HDMI will not last
Summary: 1 Stars

Works great for about a year and then hdmi inputs stops working. I first lost input from blu ray player and then my directv hd input stopped so it's unplugged an everything in plugged directly into my new led TV
