Digital camera reviews of Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black)

Digital camera Review: Does not work after a year or so
Summary: 1 Stars

Unfortunately I have to agree with several of the latest reviews of this product. This was a WONDERFUL receiver initially which I loved particularly for the price. Now a little over 1 year later, it has trouble recognizing HDMI inputs (particularly Playstation 3) which basically makes the unit worthless after 1 year. VERY VERY disappointing as it was such a great unit initially with a lot of features for the money. I would have rated it 5 stars initially but can only give it one star now as it is ridiculous that it is failing after only 1 year. Of course since it is over 1 year it is out of warranty. Obviously this is a KNOWN problem with the unit which Onkyo does not seem to admit to.

Digital camera Review: Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA plus four HDMI slots - GREAT PRICE!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had to upgrade my receiver and find a receiver that had several HDMI slots, several component, coaxial and optical and sure enough for what I had budgeted, the Onkyo TX-SR606 was what I needed.

Easy to hookup and works great! I'm just satisfied with the quality and how well this receiver performs.

I do have to say that if you have a rear projection TV with a DVI input and you are using an HDMI to DVI converter, there is a section on your settings to turn off audio going to the DVI and audio coming from your Blu-ray player to the receiver, so you will get the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA.

Anyway, for its price and what it comes with, this is an excellent receiver for its price range. Definitely recommended for the budget conscious home theater enthusiast!

Digital camera Review: Don't buy this receiver!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Please don't buy this receiver. I just bought one and had to return it because it was dropping the video signal when running the component video through the receiver. Video goes fine as long as I don't run it through the receiver... Not a cable or any other type of problem... a real shame because of all the features the thing has. It sounds great, but that's pretty pointless if the image randomly drops off while watching a movie, Netflix, or playing Wii!! Thankfully, I got a refund, but it wasn't worth taking the chance with a replacement receiver...

Digital camera Review: Easy Set Up and Great Sound
Summary: 5 Stars

I had some doubts about purchasing something like this online but decided to gamble since I really needed a unit that could decode the blueray codecs. After setting it up and running the auto equalizer w/included mic, I popped in a blueray disc and bamm, perfect sound. Listen, if it can make my cheap speaker system sound that good I can imagine what it would sound like if I had the cajones to get some real good speakers. I now run everthing through this, with one HDMI cable to my flat screen. Works like a charm.

Digital camera Review: Easy Setup
Summary: 5 Stars

Receiver is very easy to hook-up and setup. Audyssey option is fantastic and takes the complexity out of the installation process. Excellent sound in music or movies even with less than premium speakers. If you are looking for a receiver that is easy to use, easy to setup, and produces excellent audio quality than look no further!
