Outstanding DVD upscaling, it really exposes the quality of the DVD. That is to say, DVDs that are good quality conversions (i.e. the studios actually taking some pride in their product), look indistinguishable from true HD. Cruddy DVD conversions, obviously not so great. This DVD player does the absolute best job of anything on the market, given the quality of the DVD material it has to start with.Digital camera Review: Awesome

This is a great DVD player it is as good as the HD movies I watch on my Sony TV with DirecTV HD. For an upconverter DVD player this is the best. You will not be disappointed.Digital camera Review: Awesome - except for one thing.

The display is exceptionally clear. The remote is easy to use, although the feature which remembers where you were when you eject a disk is a bit confusing.
The disappointment was that my hi-def CRT TV made in 2002 (Sony KV-32HV600) does not support the upconversion to 780 or 1080 - the picture is squeezed on the top and bottom. If you have such a TV, call OPPO tech support before you buy - they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

It's my fault that I didn't look more closely, but this is not really an HD player. There are other, less expensive, true HD players out there. I returned mine.
