Digital camera reviews of Opteka Wireless Radio Remote Release for Nikon D300, D200, D100, D2X, D2XS, D3 Digital SLR CamerasDigital camera Review: Radio Transmitter Summary: 5 Stars
Purchased this product to use at a wedding where the camera was tripod mounted and triggered during the ceremony remotely. It worked great with my Nikon D3. Recommend this item. I have the manual trigger also and will keep this as a part of my photo equipment.
Digital camera Review: Range not as expected Summary: 4 Stars
All in all, a good product, but I just paced off the range at approx. 95ft with a clear line of sight and open, flat and level terrain. Claims of "up to 320ft (100m)" would appear, in my experience, to be exaggerated.Opteka Wireless Radio Remote Release for Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, XTi, XS, XSi, T1i & Powershot G10 Digital SLR Cameras --
Digital camera Review: Work great but ... cheap quality Summary: 2 Stars
Tested with D3 / D700 / D300.
The remote work just OK (as it should do)
but material look cheap at this price.
Product design is very bad.
Why dip switch in the front? Very ugly.
Look like a DIY project.
Digital camera Review: Works as expected Summary: 2 Stars
I use this remote with my Nikon D300, and usually when doing macro photography. I use the remote to remove any vibration from the shot that pressing the button with my hand would introduce. I'm only a couple feet away, so I haven't really tested the range. All in all, it works fine. I half press the button to focus, and then give it a full click to take the shot. It's simple and works fine. The remote uses CR2 size batteries, and initially I was concerned, but they were easy to find, I got them at my local best buy.
7/16/2010 Update
This remote chews through batteries, the costs of just the batteries make it not worth buying.
Digital camera Review: Works great Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this to use with my D300. It came in a basic no thrills box and came with the batteries. It has worked fine. I went on a three day workshop and used it every day all throughout the day. When I used it all day I left it on the camera the entire time and screwed it into the plug - when in my home studio I just plug it in without screwing it down, it stays on just fine. Overall I probably shot about 1000 pictures with it and it seems to be going fine. If I ever get to the point of convincing myself to put a piece of velcro on my camera, then I will secure it to the camera with a piece of velcro; I'm afraid that it dangling and swinging will eventually put stress on the wires and break them, but so far so good and still velcro free. There are some visible dip switches on the remote, but I didn't buy it for its look, I bought because of the good price. The switches enable you to change the frequency if needed.
