Digital camera reviews of Orion RedBeam II LED Flashlight

Digital camera Review: A Bit Dm
Summary: 3 Stars

This flashlight is not as good as it is advertised for the red beam function. The red beam is extremely endemic even when the thumbwheel is scrolled to its brightest setting, so this makes it almost useless for taking notes or reading a star atlas without losing your dark vision adaptation. The white light beam is quite bright but this defeats the purpose of having the red beam light. I would recommend Orion RedBeam SP Self-Powered LED Flashlight instead.

Summary of Orion RedBeam II LED Flashlight

This versatile flashlight is just what the practical astronomer ordered. It features continuously adjustable brightness so you get just the right amount of red LED light for your needs. Keep it dim for reading star charts, or with a turn of the knurled finger wheel make it bright for walking around the campsite or packing up for the night. Its twin LEDs are powered by one replaceable 9-volt alkaline battery (included) that provides up to 600 hours of use. The durable, 4-1/4" plastic housing fits easily in a pocket, or hang it around your neck with the attached 20" looped cord. Let there be adjustable light!
