Digital camera reviews of P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage MonitorDigital camera Review: To Complicated to use!! Get the other model Summary: 3 StarsThis came Fast, and arrived undamaged. I was a little dissapointed with this model, since it cannot be set like the p3 killawatt ez model which shows cost by toggling the set button to show by the hour, day, week, month, year of what you are actually using, and what it is costing you. This model will not do all that it's supposed to do! The one i have works fine, but you must keep a calculator handy, and be ready to figure cost Vs kilawtts. Defeats the whole purpose of its use etc. I guess that is why it was cheaper then the other model! Save yourself some aggrivation, buy the p3 killwatt ez model.
Digital camera Review: Kill A Watt Summary: 4 StarsThis seems to work exactly as advertised. I used it to check the energy use of a mini refrigerator. I thought it use a lot of energy, but it turns out it costs almost nothing to run the small refrigerator. Now I am checking the energy usage of my old 30" tube TV. I may be able to save a LOT of money by purchasing a BIGGER flat screen HD tv. At least that's going to be my story.
Digital camera Review: Perfect - and here is a helpful tip Summary: 5 StarsWorks as advertised and at a great price. But here is a little tip I picked up that you can get the energy cost in seconds - and no need to wait for 1 hour for the Kilowatt per hour calculation.
Plug in any device then press to select the Watt readout. Take that number and go to [...]
Just plug in the wattage readout, enter how many hours it is on (just enter 1 to show how much per hour to operate) and the cost per Khw. This is normally right at the top of your monthly utility bill where the calculate your bill. Example, I am in Iowa and a KHw is .08034
It will amaze you when you see how much power your devices turned OFF are costing you. Examples from our house - a flat screen in our bedroom costs $10 per year turned off. Laptops, plugged in - but fully charged and completely turned off - 7 cents per day or $36 per year. New computer with screen / printer all in standby mode - $80 per year. And the biggest - I put a small dorm fridge in my office = $51 per year. For that price I can walk upstairs and grab a soda.
What is shocking (pun intended) - with just 5 things we checked in 15 minutes we have cut our electric usage by 12%!!
As the saying goes "You can not manage what you do not measure!".. Now there is no excuse!
Digital camera Review: Almost exactly what I was looking for. Summary: 5 StarsThis item was exactly what I was looking for. The price was right and it does what it says it will. It tells you how much elec. an item is using and how much has been used since it was plugged in. The only 2 things that I would mention that might be a negative are that it shows 3 watts being used when the item is plugged in with nothing connected to it. I am guessing that is how much electric is needed to run the device. And the more annoying issue is that it looses the recorded data instantly when it is unplugged. Don't forget this one, it will bite you. I wish they would have at least put in a short term memory and a reset button. But, it is not really a issue if you remember to look before you unhook it. Over all, I have no problem giving it 5 stars.
Digital camera Review: Nice item to review your electrical use Summary: 5 StarsOverall, I was quite pleased with this item. Simple to use, just plug in the your electrical device and push the watt button and you can see how many watts it's consuming. I used it to see just what my TVs and computers were using when I turned them off. I find my cable box uses as much energy turned off as it does turned on!
While it does plug right into a wall socket, I found it more convenient to put it on a short extension cord.
