Digital camera reviews of P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage MonitorDigital camera Review: P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage Monitor Summary: 4 StarsIt does what it says it does.
You definitely need an 3 prong extension cord to work with it because it is very difficult to read when it is plugged into an outlet. It is actually next to useless without using an extension cord between the outlet and the Kill-A-Watt.
The first two weeks I had it I used it a lot, but after I determined out how much electricity was being used by each appliance, the Kill-A-Watt then collects a lot of dust. I pull it out when I get a new appliance, or when I lend it to someone. I just wish I knew someone who had one, and I could have borrowed theirs. :-)
I was amazed at the amount of power my entertainment center used when it was OFF! I have subsequently unplugged components that are rarely used. Powered sub-woofers are a real surprise.
I've had it a couple years, and I would purchase it again. I believe it has paid for itself.
Digital camera Review: Worth it to discover where your electricity is going Summary: 5 StarsPower companies should give these away! Helps you find the truth about your electric use. Some things I thought were energy wasters actually consumed very little power (charging stand for Sonicare toothbrush, paper shredder). Other things like home entertainment center (Tivo, PS3, 52-inch Sony TV, WiFi router, amplifier and speaker system) really gobble up the juice. Found the P3 pretty easy to use.
Digital camera Review: Does what it says Summary: 5 StarsI purchased the P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage Monitor as a gift for my husband, and he has been using it all over the house. It is very easy to use and program, and with the addition of a short extension cord, the meter can be left anywhere handy to read, even if plugged in behind a refrigerator. If I had to fault the meter on any one thing, it would be that the dial has no light, and the lettering is small (numbers are fine). It took a flashlight to read the dial in many cases. The directions should also explain all the various electrical measurements. They list them all, but give no explanation of what they mean. They also don't mention overload protection, just maximum wattage for the meter. I got the feeling several times the temporary starting load of an appliance might cause the meter to fail. I would highly recommend this product to anyone, the results it gives are in some cases very surprising and revealing.
Digital camera Review: Works great! Summary: 5 StarsI was initially looking for an clamp meter to measure power usage but this device works great
and is cheaper too. Only hiccup is you may need a short extension cord
to plug into some tight locations. Used it to measure power consumption and power factor
on my PCs, PS3, Homeserver etc. Was not compatible with my Dryer plug but I don't think
this device can handle more than 15Amps anyway. Readings seem reasonably accurate as well.
Digital camera Review: Kill a Watt Summary: 3 StarsThis device is ok so far. I have used it a couple of times. It seems to take longer to record the usage than I expected but that is not that big of a deal. The main issue I have are the buttons are not very responsive. They have to be pushed several times to get movement and/or you have to push them in very hard.
