Digital camera reviews of PEC-PAD Lint Free Wipes 4"x4" 100per/PkgDigital camera Review: NOT FOR WIPING BLANKETS ON DIGITAL PRESS Summary: 1 Stars
THESE ARE THE WORSE ONES I HAVE TRIED..... THEY LEAVE SO MUCH LINT ON THE BLANKET.... THEY ARE NOT FOR MY PRESS. I FOUND THE RIGHT ONES AT HIGH TEC INDUSTRIES.... EXCELLENT FOR THE DIGITAL PRESS.
Digital camera Review: No Disappointments Here Summary: 4 Stars
Exactly as advertised. These are lint free little squares used to clean anything that is not to be scratched. I use them on my DSLR and Lenses and my telescope eyepieces. They are fantastic for removing smudges - couple these with a reputable liquid cleaning solution for an unbeatable sensitive optics cleaning kit.
Only two things to note with these:
1) With all cleaning solutions, I'd highly recommend some form of air bellows to clear dust off of your cleaning target, lest you grind grit particles into your expensive glass!
2) With 100 of these pads and their associated cost, I would expect them to come in a resealable package. This was easily remedied with a zip-type sandwich baggie.
Digital camera Review: No scratches easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
Just keep the pads in a sealed ziploc and they stay dust free. No lint or scratches on my lenses and I have used them multiple times in conjunction with E2 Eclipse.
Digital camera Review: Not the best for negetive cleaning Summary: 3 Stars
Tried this for cleaning 35mm film and also to clean the scanner (Cannon 8800F) bed. 1) This is definitely not lint "free". Cleaned the scanner bed with a wipe just out of the packet while looking through a 8x magnifying loupe. I can see lint left behind. When used with PEC-12, noticed a thin film of whitish goo, probably from the wipe. 2) Tried using with PEC-12 for wiping negetives and again the results were not good. Left lint behind and also left minor scratches. So this is generally ok for wiping optics where a very small pices of lint is ok, but not for negatives.
Digital camera Review: PEC-PAD Lint Free Wipes are "on the spot" Summary: 5 Stars
When I first saw these advertised, I was somewhat wary. Now that I have them in hand, I can say that these wipes are very effective and useful on optics and other critical surfaces. They should always be used with a proper cleaning fluid. "Spit" is not a proper cleaning fluid. I have no trepidation about using PEC-PADS on my expensive camera lenses. I have not yet tried them on photographic emulsions, however. These pads are not "cheap", neither in quality nor price. I'll pay the price when I am assured that the product works and does no damage.
