Digital camera reviews of PNY Verto GeForce 8500GT 512MB Video Card

Digital camera Review: Better Than I Could Have Expected!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this video card as a "low end" alternative since I love high end games but can't buy a $300 video card to run them.

Well, I don't need to. I installed this video card into my PC.
In case you're curious, here are the specs:

AMD 64 X2 4400+ 2.3Ghz Dual Core
2 GB RAM
320 GB HD
22" Acer Flat Panel Monitor

Running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

And I added the nVidia GeForce 8500 PCIe card.

So far, I have been wildly impressed.
Now, I've been burnt before, cards that say they're powerful and end up doing poorly. However, this card said it was adequate and ended up working powerfully! I am currently running GTA IV at max settings at 1680x1050x32, and I'm pulling 78 frames per second! I'm running Flight Simulator X at max settings and am getting 63 frames per second! X Plane 9? Maximum settings on everything, plus 4x anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, 1680x1050x32 resolution, full screen, severe thunderstorm with incredibly real looking rain, and I'm running it flawlessly!

Every single game has been maxed out and I'm still getting high frame rates. So listen: If you really need to get the most bang for the buck, this card is it. I didn't imagine that $50 low end investment would return such incredibly high results.

Highly recommended!
J.

Digital camera Review: Can't beat it for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

Good overall performance and low cost, moderate power consumption. Games are now smoother, and you can tune the settings for speed, quality, etc using a slider bar, or more advanced settings for those that want to custom tune and tweak the card. Overall, well worth the $49 paid.

Digital camera Review: Crashed Just After A Year
Summary: 1 Stars

I installed this card in a new HP dual core AMD machine. After 13 months the card crashed and was worthless. After trying everything to revive it I sent a request to PNY for a replacement under their 3 year warranty. They said they couldn't find a record of my registration and since the card had reached end-of-life they refused to replace it. So apparently, 13 months is end-of-life on these cards. I would not recommend this card unless you plan to replace it again in a year. I have replaced the card with a different manufacturer's 9500 Nvidia card with 1 gig video memory for the same price as this card. Do some research and you'll find better deals out there. I won't be purchasing PNY products anytime soon.

Digital camera Review: Decent replacement card if you want Dual Monitors
Summary: 3 Stars

Bought this to bring dual-monitor capability to a new HP Quad Core system. I thought it may bring increased system performance due to the standard included card shared memory. I was disappointed to see virtually no performance gain but still happy to now have dual monitor capability.

Digital camera Review: Economical and efficient
Summary: 5 Stars

Best bang for the buck. Inexpensive and handles very well. No problems that I have had whatsoever and even overclocks nicely.
