Digital camera reviews of Palm TX HandheldDigital camera Review: Palm TX Works Summary: 5 StarsAfter having lost my faithful Sony pda to water damage (lesson: stay away from pools unless you're there to swim), I did a lot of research to find a replacement on a budget. I chose the Palm TX based on my desire for a handheld computer, on various professional and private reviews, and finally, on price. The used TX that I purchased has worked out fine -- living up to its reviews. Yes, as they say, the battery life is fair to poor. I find that it's consumed most rapidly by being on the internet; other typical uses do not deplete it too badly at all. Overall I'm very pleased with it and would recommend it to others.
Digital camera Review: Student Review of the Palm T|X Summary: 4 StarsThis is my third palm and I love it. The ability to check my email anywhere on campus is fantastic. I have only two complaints...
1. Every now and then the device will get jammed and it will require resetting the device with the button on the back.
2. Palm blazer the web browser does not do a very good job reproducing large and complex web pages.
Other than these small flaws I think that the Palm T|X is a great device.
Digital camera Review: Pretty Good, but not the LifeDrive Summary: 4 StarsMy LifeDrive crashed on me, so I got a Palm TX as a substitute. The Palm TX is a nice PDA, and perhaps for someone who never had a LifeDrive it would be great. But after having the LifeDrive with its 4 gig hard drive, the Palm TX just couldn't quite keep up. The wifi usually worked ok, but it did not have the memory to function on some networks. The touch screen works great, and the applications are all very good, just like on other Palm products. This is very thin and light weight, and I hardly even feel it in my pocket. It works fine with the bluetooth keyboard, so it is nice to have a pocket sized portable work station. I like it in a lot of ways, but it just falls short of the functionality of the LifeDrive, so it really isn't for me.
Digital camera Review: A great PDA Summary: 5 StarsPalm should never have discontinued this line of product in favor of the cell phone. This unit has a much larger screen which is easier to see and therefore better for running add-on programs. I use a database program to keep track of shopping lists and collections. While out shopping I always have a complete list of items in a collection and never duplicate anything. I also have a program to keep track of expenditures on my vehicles and monitor mileage. I can also carry many e-books in the chip memory along with a dictionary and games. A converter program allows me to make quick calculations when needed. There are many other programs I've loaded onto the PDA and I use them regularly. By synchronizing with my laptop I can also print contact lists for various projects including a Christmas card list. The biggest problem with this product is that once you get used to it you don't want to give it up.
Digital camera Review: Used Palm TX Handheld Summary: 5 StarsUsed Palm TX works as expected, however, Original Palm software was missing from the Bundle. (Item Appropriately Discounted for "USED" status, so I'm still very happy with product). Fortunately, I've previously purchased 3 of these "TX" products before as New and Re-Furbished, all which have worked great. (One of the previously purchased TX's was lost so I had original software available for the "used" product. (2 Household Nurses use Free ePocrates and purchased Licensed Diagnostic Drug description software, as well as Clinic Patient Reports using Palm Word Forms which download to Computer for later printing)(also manages Contacts, meetings and Engineering projects review status)
This "TX" product worked "TOO WELL"(as an independent PDA) because it is no longer made and the PALM SYSTEM has been re-designed to FORCE the USER to purchase ON-LINE CONNECTIVITY (active Web dependent) to allow users to obtain the same FUNCTIONALITY as in the newer PALM-PRE PHONE. This NEWER PALM-PRE BUSINESS MODEL forces a repetitive monthly fee payable as a phone service as well as the MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION services for additional web-based software purchases. (Software Execution depends on On-Line Server access.) Valid On-Line Backup Service available for FEE, which duplicates the original FREE (user independent) Home Computer based wireless/cable-connect Backup Service.
The PALM TX wireless home computer backup feature was used by me to reload my original software, files and electronic Books (yes, it also services as a "Kindle" like book reader, using free Mobi-pocket palm software) onto this "USED" TX. I recommend getting the TX while you can because they are the best in functionality and dependability. (We also once had a Dell (Windows) PDA which offered less bang for the buck).
