Digital camera reviews of Palm Z22 HandheldDigital camera Review: Basic functions & excellent usability! Summary: 5 Stars
It seems like everyone else wants their PDA to take pictures, store and play music, and surf the net. It's nice to have a sleek, basic PDA that will store facts, ideas, and keep a good, functional calendar, without the extraneous bells and whistles in more expensive versions. You can store a couple of books on it for those long waits in the doctor's office, and keep lists of contacts, phone numbers, and data that used to crowd your old fat paper organizer. This is just what I need! If I want to take a picture, I'll get my camera!
Digital camera Review: Basic handheld Summary: 5 Stars
Use this device basically only as drug reference. Small size and contour perfect for keeping in pocket. Inexpensive and functional.
Digital camera Review: Basic, inexpensive and to the point...just what I wanted in a PDA. Summary: 4 Stars
I have bought and used Pocket PC's , Palms and such for many years. My needs for these devices have changed many times over the years from technical platforms to engineering platforms to portable business platforms to organizer platforms and back again. Right now I currently need a light, easy to use and quickly accessed organizer. The Palm Z22 is that. It's easy to use and has a straight forward GUI with a nice compliment of built in organizer software that are intuitive and nicely functional. At under a hundred dollars it is a perfect purchase for the person who does not need all the extra features and power of more advanced PDA's that weigh more, cost more and have increased battery demands and are cluttered with layers of menus and complicated steps to make use of its functions or software. While there are many things that the Z22 is not suited for, used for what it does well, it does it very well and cost effectively. I added a few other software choices at very little expense to fill out the needs I had that it did not come with. It was easy to find software that worked on the Z22. I find that I can easily open applications in one or two steps and instantly perform tasks, record information and check on many bits and points of information including my appointments and to-do lists. It is fast and easy to use and rather fun. I even have a few clever games to kill time with on occasions. The new Graffiti 2 software makes data enter so easy (quite a bit of an improvement over the old version). Stick your Z22 back into any pocket or in my case a small tidy belt loop case and you are on your way. If simplicity and basic organizer functions at a good price that is light and small with excellent battery life are what you need; look no further, the Z22 is you ticket. Enjoy.
Digital camera Review: Basic, simple Palm Summary: 3 Stars
This latter-day Palm Pilot was just what I wanted to replace my moribund "Zire 21." While its exterior, and especially the back cover, was/is somewhat scruffy, it does everything I need and want, and keeps me from having to sell out to Outlook or getting a phone that's smarter than I am. Money well spent.
Digital camera Review: Be wary of battery drain Summary: 2 Stars
The Z22 has no way of disabling the automatic wakeup for calendar alarms. This may cause you to lose battery power much faster than you might expect. Especially if you do not constantly use the device for a few days and then expect to look up an address or phone number (think vacation).
If you have appointments, the Z22 will turn on automatically to give you an alarm, and then repeat the process a number of times for each appointment even if you have the alarm sound turned off. This will drain your battery quickly when you think you have not been using the PDA. You can lower the time period before the automatic shutdown and reduce the number of alarm repeats, but you cannot make the display stay off and preserve your battery.
