Digital camera Review: A good bit of functionality for the price

While I'm not a huge fan of Palm's "deal" pushing in the Addit program - I'm a pretty big fan of most everything else. To its credit, Palm included neat little extras in Addit including free news from Reuters every time you sync. It's certainly not the NYTimes - but it'll do in a crunch. Addit (as of 12/18/05) also provides access to a few basic games including Solitaire which I'm sure, for some, might be a deal maker. But note that the included mix of programs and other content in Addit probably changes from time to time.
As for the device - the basic form lends itself to use by relative novices in the PDA world, like myself. And this is exactly what Palm intended in the design and manufacture of the product. They succeeded admirably. I acclimated to both the physical handheld and the Palm OS in short order.
For less than $100 - I doubt there's a better no-frills device on the market with so much to offer.

I'm not a big fan of "convergence" devices - I don't want or need my cell phone to play MP3s, the calendar function on my MP3 player is of no use to me, you get the idea - and I don't need a PDA with Bluetooth, MS Office, etc., just a calendar and contact list. That's why I found the Palm Z22 to be so appealing. It's a basic PDA that should have replaced the paper organizers I've found to be such a hassle to keep updated (when your handwriting is as bad as mine, being able to enter information electronically is a true blessing). And replace them it did - for exactly 28 days. On the 29th day I pressed the power button and was greeted with a black screen. Completely dead. I was prepared to give the Z22 five stars, because it performed the basic functions I needed flawlessly, but with a life of less than one month I cannot justify a rating of more than one star. I ordered this Z22 a little over a year ago. I really like it, especially when I keep it updated and actually use it. It's nice to have a calendar I can carry with me at all times and easy access to my address book. It's great to send myself appointments from my work calendar to my home calendar and vice versa, then sync them together for my sanity. The battery life is GREAT. Very impressive!
I highly recommend the Krusell Handit Multidapt Leather Case for Palm Z22. I bought the PALM 3257WW Palm Z22 Everyday Case for this when I bought it and thought it was really a hassle to have to unzip the case and take out the Palm everytime I wanted to use it. The Krusell is much more user-friendly and looks a lot nicer.
