Digital camera reviews of Palm Z22 HandheldDigital camera Review: A perfectly designed unit! Summary: 4 Stars
After a lot of research and going back and forth on PDA's and Pocket PC's, I decided to buy the Z22. For the price, I figured I couldn't go wrong.
And this little baby delivers! It does everything I could want it to do - keeps my calendar, contacts, to-do list (which syncs super-easily w/Outlook)- Surprisingly, I use the memo pad A LOT! It's great for taking quick notes on just about anything.
It comes with some added features: Games, my favorites are solitaire and crazy daisy. Splash Photo, I use it to carry pictures of the kids. And a surprise plus was Splash Shopper. Being a gadget person, I've always done my shopping list on Ecxel - where I could choose what I wanted to buy, sort it, and print it out by aisle/location in the store. Well, splash shopper does this so much better!! I always have my list with me. As I need things, I check them and as I buy things, I check them off. If you're diligent at inputting data, you can know how much your grocery bill will be for the items you've chosen before you even leave for the store! I love Splash Shopper - besides the "outlook" stuff, this is my favorite feature.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a PDA with lots of features and an awesome price tag, look no further. The Z22 is it!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars out of 5, is that I wish it had a flip top to protect the screen. Then I wouldn't have to worry about it so much when I have it in my pocket!
Digital camera Review: A place for all your notes, to-do's, medications, etc. Summary: 5 Stars
Unit works great. Love the HotSync feature. One caveat: the letter keyboard selection "ABC" in lower left box may not seem to work--I found if I used the stylus at the bottom of the screen in between the "Contacts" icon and the vertical white line I get a better response. Would highly recommend using the keyboard display to enter data than try to get used to the graffiti script method of writing things in. Otherwise I am thrilled with the unit. For the price and festures it is hard to beat! I love it for storing the large amount of user names and/or passwords for various sites (and it can be password protected as well!). The "contacts" feature also A+.
Digital camera Review: A real bargain Summary: 5 Stars
As a replacement for my 6-years old Palm m100, this device does the job quite well. Highly recomended for basic technology people.
Digital camera Review: A simple PDA, and a great gift Summary: 4 Stars
I got this PDA as a gift from some friends, and except for a few minor annoyances, I'm really happy with it.
Pros:
- It's a compact, simple unit that's been stripped down to its most basic but important functions (managing contacts, calendar, etc.)
- A really clean and simple interface (i haven't ever owned a PDA before, and it literally took minutes to understand most of it's functions and features)
- The Graffiti writing system: I rarely have problems with this, and it's surprisingly nice how well it works (though you do have to write a little bit slower than you normally might)
- The battery lasts an incredibly long time (I can often go for a few days at least without a recharge)
- Lack of a huge number of features: For me, anyway, this was kind of an avantage...I avoid gadgets that cram a huge number of features and functions into one unit at the expense of a clean, simple interface and reliability, and have no problem carrying a separate phone (especially since neither is particularly big/heavy)
Cons:
- Syncing with a computer: I don't feel that the lack of bluetooth is a huge drawback, but when I tried syncing this through USB with my computer (a Mac), I just found the process clunky and unnecessarily complicated (unlike the actual interface on the Palm itself), so I use it alone now, without the computer.
- The screen is a little difficult to see clearly in the sunlight outside (which is quite a problem, since the point of a PDA is managing calendars, etc., on the go, including outdoors)
Overall, I would definitely recommend this, especially for such a reasonable price.
Digital camera Review: A very easy to use product which is well worth the price! Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using the palm z22 for a week now and it is awesome! If you aren't looking for a cell phone bluetooth enabled mp3 player movie watcher web browser emailer instant messenger thingamajig, just a faithful well made organizer(with awesum bonus features I might add) then this is for you. The first thing I noticed about it is how easy it is to use! You can keep all life's details in this handheld and it STAYS there! Also type in all of your friends phone numbers in contacts and even add their birthday! There are various alarms that you can set for any event to remind you of them and you only have to enter events that repeat once. For example I have a piano lesson every thurday at 4 so I just type it once and hit repeat once a week and it appears every week until the stop date! This is also the perfect device for teachers that have to keep track of their students with homework and everything. And obviously it's great for the student! Easily keep track of ALL your assignments and due dates(in task mode and memos)and you'll be able to get them done on time(I know from experience). It is so small and light that it feels like a wallet in your pocket.Outside it looks like an ipod almost. The screen is the perfect size for all the applications like reading books, news, and scheduling your life. You can easily jot down a quick note with Graffiti 2 handwriting recognition, or use the onscreen keyboard to enter information. The included cd rom includes cool bonus software that really are useful.Such as a shopping list, mobile db which is a database of all kinds of stuff, ebook reader if you want to read books, chess for those boring hours, checksplit, a first aid guide, a calculator, and LOTS of other stuff.Hot syncing it to your computer is so easy! Just plug it in and hit hot sync and all your dates, appointments, memos, notes and whatever are stored on your computer so you don't lose them. The battery lasts surprisingly long. I haven't had to charge it in a week since I got it! It would be nice if it had a custom made aluminum case, but the polycarbonate air case works just great and protects it from scratches and stuff, so make sure you invest in one.Overall this is a very attractive looking and well made handheld. If you are thinking of buying this, then think NO MORE! This is the handheld for you!
