Digital camera reviews of PalmOne Zire 71 Handheld

Digital camera Review: Best Palm Yet
Summary: 5 Stars

After having a original Zire and being fed up with it, I bought the Zire 71, which i MUST say is much improved. The color screen is awesome, compared to the original grey. The only cons I can think of is that the battery only lasts about 5 hours. Buy it, you wont regret it.

Digital camera Review: Best Palm ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned a Palm V, a Sony Clie 760C, and a Handspring Visor Deluxe. I also currently own a Dell Axim which is good but my Zire 71 is my main PDA. I carry it with me all of the time. If you see the screen on it, how it seems like it's right up against the glass it has the best LCD that I have ever seen. The screen is also very bright. I set the brightness almost all the way down because it's so bright. On the dark it can light up a . room. The camera is good for quick pictures. It's not for high quality picture taking. Battery life is pretty good. It also let's you play Mp3's. I bought a 64MB SD card and installed real player for palm. Then I used the quick install software to download mp3 files to it. I was amazed at how great it sounded. I recommend this palm 100%. Palm will have a hard time trying to out do this Zire.

Digital camera Review: Best little PDA
Summary: 5 Stars

For the money, this is the best PDA I've ever used... Been a PDA user for years, can't live without, and this is by far the best one I've seen for the price! The picture is crisp and bright, I can even read outside with my sunglasses on! Everything is simple to use. Only downfall... Buttons on the bottom automatically turn on the PDA if it bumps in its case and premeturely wear the battery out... but I have found a way to live with it because I love it so much!

Digital camera Review: Better than Pocket PC
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought this last night. Had purchased a Toshiba 335 Pocket PC about 4 months ago. Find this much easier to use. Love the camera and the fact I can send and recieve emails using my ISP upon synching the machine.

Digital camera Review: Beware memory cards!
Summary: 4 Stars

Having bought, relied on, then broken the m500 palm pilot, I was looking for a replacement to use. I had my memory card just recently backed up so figured it would be easy to buy a new palm pilot and reinstall all my data.

Unfortunately it wasn't that simple... Having been sold the Zire71 as a replacement and assured it would work just fine with my old memory card, I've had no end of hassle. Basically the software on the two palm pilots just aren't compatable - a fact palm say:
1. They are working on - but don't know when or even if they will sort out.
2. They have told retailers about - but J and R in Manhattan at least have either not been told, or aren't telling us about it (in fact I was specifically told they ARE compatable).

The long and the short of it was that I found that I had a choice of either taking this otherwise great palm (after all I've still given it a 4 star rating) back to the store and changing it for an older model that uses the same software as the m500 OR keeping it and losing some of my contacts and notes.

I've done the latter as I can't bring myself to give the Zire71 back - but I do want to warn other people to take any promises that memory cards mean your data is safe forever with a HUGE pinch of salt.

And one last question... why has palm released this now, when all their software design problems haven't yet been ironed out? (From their website it appears this isn't the only software related problem users have had). If you're not in a hurry I'd suggest hanging on and buying your Zire71 in a few month's time when other people's hassles have got Palm to sort their act out.
