Digital camera Review: Great product for certain types of people

Great basic Palm with a bright screen. The camera is not a gimmick! Though it does not produce digital camera quality pictures, it is very handy. Looking at kitchen cabinets and want to show someone the style? Have an accident and want to document something? Something funny at work? Looking at real estate and want to remember what the rooms look like? See a dress you like and want to think about it? I documented a ceiling leak which had not been fixed for 6 mos and sent it to the person in charge-it was fixed that day. A picture is worth a thousand complaints! Extremely easy to email pictures also.I keep mine in a Franklin planner which has protected the screen successfully for 9 months.
I agree with other writers that it does not fit firmly in the cradle and battery life could be better. The new graffiti is a pain- but they had to do it because of a patent infringement I was told.
The expansion slot is also handy- you can put an Encyclopedia, dictionary, family pictures, or whatever on the card and pop it in. I use the Encyclopedia Brittanica card a lot.
If you plan to listen to music or use multimedia files, it seems from the other reviews that this is not the Palm for you.

My only complaint with this is its battery life. It is designed in such a way that if any button is pressed, it turns itself on. And then the battery drains. You need to be careful when carrying in yout pocket or bag. If anythin presses the buttons, it will turn itself on.Also if you use it for more than 20 minutes, it startes lossing battery life.
You might want to buy the hard case for this.
Buy the other models.

I purchased my Zire 71 in July. I have had several pda's... the Palm Professional (remember that one?), the Palm V, the Sony Clie, and most recently, the Zire. The resolution was great, nice functionality, etc. Unfortunately, 2 months shy of its 1st birthday, it locked up & died.... This is my second Palm product where the system has just locked up and stopped working. A very serious design flaw. Too bad....Digital camera Review: Battery is replaceable

I have owned a Palm V, a Sony Clie 760C, and a Handspring Visor Deluxe. I also currently own a Dell Axim which is good but my Zire 71 is my main PDA. I carry it with me all of the time. If you see the screen on it, how it seems like it's right up against the glass it has the best LCD that I have ever seen. The screen is also very bright. I set the brightness almost all the way down because it's so bright. On the dark it can light up a . room. The camera is good for quick pictures. It's not for high quality picture taking. Battery life is pretty good. It also let's you play Mp3's. I bought a 64MB SD card and installed real player for palm. Then I used the quick install software to download mp3 files to it. I was amazed at how great it sounded. I recommend this palm 100%. Palm will have a hard time trying to out do this Zire.
