Within a few weeks, the handset started to lose connection with the base.
You could be sitting within five feet of the base, and still have the connection dropped.
Later, we tried to switch handsets - the "upstairs" one, with the base unit. That worked fine, for about a week.
It's worthless!

Our previous 3 year old cordless SBC phone's battery pack was once again showing signs of impending death. You know the type, the 3 cell pack with the little wires and connector, you pay $13 to $15 for at target or some such.
I'll try not to dygress anymore.
We (wife and I) decided on this Panasonic cause it's newer and because of the 2 handsets that can act as home intercom.
They work great! Not only do they share the same phone book (50 numbers) but the intercom system thingy works super.
When we received the phones, wha.. it came with 4 AA cells in a plastic bag (??). I spent a couple min. trying to open the base, to insert these batteries. To my suprise and glee, they're not for the base, they are NiMH cells for the handsets! Now I never have to get shafted for a silly little battey pack. And to put the star on the tree, the chargers are "smart" they know when the cells are charged and stop charging!!! Yey, yippee!!
We've use these for a week and we love them.

This is the worst phone I have ever had. First these phones don't hold their charge, after charging all night long after 30 min off the hook it's already dying! Second STATIC, non stop static... I can't even call people on this phone because they say they can't hear me either it's static or I'm cutting out, but bottom line they can't hear me. I wish I could return these phones, but it's too late, I don't use the house phone that much so I didn't think anything of it at first, I thought maybe it was something else. Today I finally went out and bought a Uniden phone and my life is finally better. Our old phone was dying a slow death. We wanted an affordable phone with a few handsets and an answering machine. Nothing fancy. We compared phomes on Amazon until our eyes bled, decided on the Panasonic 5.8 GHZ Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System - Dual Handset System (KX-TG4322B).
The phone arrived with in 4 days, the package had a small pushed in area, but there was no damage to the phones. We had printed out the maual on 8 1/2x11 paper from online, but the manual provided was fairly easy to read.
We had the phone set up and programmed with in 1/2 hour.
They have a nice design, a good light weight in the hand. Offer many more features then we will probably use. I do like the fact the address book is available in both hand sets, once programed into one. The phones have not been overly sensitive to the power surges we get here. The last we had to reset all the time.
My favorite thing is the sound. What a difference from the old phone. We can hear so much more clearly and adjust the volume much easier. The intercom system is great too, though it took us a few minutes to figure it out on our own. The batteries used are great too. We need to stock up on a couple at Wal-mart
What I don't like is it is a phone for short conversations. I got involved in a drawn out conversation and over 10 minutes and the phone is uncomfortable for me to hold to my ear. I don't have a lot of long conversations normally, I could use the speaker phone if I did, it works very well. But it's a point to mention.
All in all it is an excellent buy.
