Simply put, this is another quality product from Panasonic. I've owned a number of products from Panasonic over the last 20 years and never had a problem with any of them. Many of the products in my home are from them and I always lean in their direction when buying electronics of any kind. This battery is no exception. I bought this battery not to replace my original but to have an extra for our upcoming honeymoon in Europe. The original is still working like new after 2 years and I will feel much more comfortable having 2 of these long life batteries handy on this trip. I purchased these batteries from 'Triplenet Pricing'.
On the batteries, it said 970mAh instead of the 1000mAh I expected. Triplenet Pricing investigated this for me.
The reason for the change from 1000mAH to 970mAH was explained as follows from the factory:
This is because of world wide regulation change. Instead of Typical capacity, "Minimum Capacity Ratings will be indicated on battery body based on the IEC standard(IEC61960) which issued by international Electrotechnical Commission."
So there was actually no change in the battery. Instead of listing the normal capacity, they list the minimum capacity per IEC standards.
These batteries work as expected, and I am happy with the responsiveness of Triplenet Pricing.

Hi everyone
This replacement battery is the exactly the same with the original we have with the camera. I cant understand others saying: "the replacement is better/worse than the original one" !!! exactly the same manufacturer with the same specification. Maybe, some people are buying this after a while of using their original ones, so it might look better as it would be "new" compared to the one they are using.
I have a TZ3, actually it is a high demanding camera, I believe buying another one is mandatory for this camera if you dont want to run out of power.
I wish if Panasonic made a more powerful battery for this camera.
