Digital camera reviews of Panasonic DMP-BD30K 1080p Blu-ray Disc PlayerDigital camera Review: Blu-ray Summary: 5 Stars
This player was delivered very quickly. I didn't even have any Blu-ray disc's to play before it arrived. A note on the best cables would have been helpful (eventually bought a Monster 800 for the HDMI direct HD-TV connection). The internal program showed a need to upgrade the software (version 1.2 to 1.3) and i installed the downloaded diskette with v1.3. There was a very simple setup. Regular DVD's look great and Blu-rays display better than HD DirecTV programs on my 46" Sony Bravia.
Digital camera Review: Blu-ray at it best! Summary: 5 Stars
I have compared the Panasonic DMP BD30 with Sony's new S500 and PS3 and no doubt, DB30 gives you the best picture & sound of this alternatives, it looks good, loads fast, profile 1.1, and all the new Sound formats, in addition - is almost cheap!
What more can any one ask for?
Digital camera Review: Blu-ray for region 1 Summary: 4 Stars
The player works well, and the dvds look great on the screen. It is nice that you can use the remote for the television too.
Since our former dvd player remembered for the last five dvds where the dvd was stopped, and resumed playing from that point, we miss that feature on this player, but the other player was not Blu-ray. Getting the subtitles to work is 4 clicks, which is a pity, since we tend to use that regularly.
No possibility to change between regions, this dvd player will only work for region 1 (USA and Canada).
Digital camera Review: Cannot play AVCHD discs created by Ulead Video Studio Summary: 2 Stars
While the product says it plays AVCHD discs, I tried playing several discs I created using Corel Ulead Video Studio 11 Plus and they just hung the player. I had to power off the player and then start it up again just to eject the disc. These discs play fine on Sony PS3 and S300 so looks like I'll have to return this and wait for Sony to produce a profile 1.1 player.
Obviously, there are many pluses to this player, but for my purposes, if I cannot play HD home movies that I create using AVCHD, then it is worthless.
Digital camera Review: DMP-BD30K The Player of Choice ... So So Remote Summary: 5 Stars
We've looked at a lot of players ... Sony S300, Samsung 1200 & 1400, and the Previous generation Panasonic. This is the one to get.
Fastest load times, and simply an awesome picture. Was comparing THE FIFTH ELEMENT between the Samsung BD-1400 & this player, and the video is much cleaner & sharper with the Panasonic.
Not so crazy about the remote. No backlight, and somewhat strange layout.
But the GOOD NEWS is, if you have an older Universal/Learning Remote, Panasonic DID NOT change their code, like ALL the other players I tried. So you can enter the Panasonic DVD code, and then customize the couple extra keys you need.
Also the Blue Light is rather bright, but it can be turned off in the menu, or set to only come on when you insert an SD card.
Overall, a fantastic machine that will not disappoint. If your on the fence about which Blu-Ray player to get, look no further.
