This is one of the best portable DVDs I've used. The screen has a very wide angle view thus you can see the picture eventhough you are not directly in front of the screen, great for sharing what you're seeing (specially if you have more than one kid).
The battery duration is also the longest!

I ended up buying this player specifically because it had divx / mp4 compatibility which I wanted since I mostly use digital video files rather than dvd disks.
The main downside I have found with this player is that when my daughter uses it in the car she constantly accidentally hits the control buttons which stop or skip the video forward. Because of the placement of the buttons it is VERY easy for kids to accidentally hit a button.
We just got back from a road trip and this was a major pain. To add to that when you are playing video files (divx/mp4) from a DVD disk there is no chapters so when you press the skip it jumps to the next movie and there is no way to go back to where you were. One one 2 hour period my daughter probably watched parts of 6 movies because of this. I did discover that you can fast forward by pressing and holding the skip button, but it's still a time consuming affair.
I now have to figure out some type of "button protector" to prevent this for future trips.
If you don't need divx/mp4 functionality I would suggest going with another player like one of the sony dvd players which has higher quality video and might not have this same button issue.

Positive: Price, Amazon Shipping and customer service, Good battery life, Battery is removable, Image quality is good, Menu functions easy to use, comes with all the cables for car & ac, very light,good for traveling,use two headphones at one time,does well with MUSIC DVDs in MP3. I Used Windows Media Mgr (Vista) to copy/convert CDs to MP3. This unit works GREAT WITH COMPRESSED MOVIE RIPS....CONSIDER 1-Click DVD Copy Pro Software and DVD43 for movies with this unit.
Negative: Very easy to break, needs a protective case, controls fill up the panel making it too easy to hit one by mistake, needs usb port, Screen blocks controls when it comes forward, you must use good headphones ($60-$70) for really good sound, speakers are weak,real world battery life is about seven hrs with screen on, get a second battery or other power source battery for long trips by train.
I would buy this unit again. I play 32 albums on one cd with this unit, compressed DVD movie plays well !!! Enjoy.

Great product! Once you put the brightness setting on moonlight, you're good to go for watching up to 13 hours of video. I watched 3 2-hr shows so far on it and it still has some juice.
