If your recorder will record to the RAM disc you will have a lot more versatility in editing etc with Ram then you do on the R or RW discs. You can also reformat and rerecord on them thousands of times. With the appropriate DVD-writing software installed, DVD-RAM discs in generally offer superior performance over DVD+RW or DVD-RW discs. Because DVD-RAM discs store & access data without having to follow the concentric pathways to its destination (i.e., randomly), the discs eject after a write in the same manner as a USB stick; DVD+RW & DVD-RW discs produce a wait-for-a-while dialog box during ejection. Considering that Panasonic was involved in creating the DVD-RAM standard, it stands to reason that their discs will offer unmatched quality & performance. DVD Ram Discs are the best I've found for reuse after reuse.
None of the other DVD R/W's I've tried can begin to compare.
For some stupid reason you can't buy them locally anymore.
I use for latest daily backup of my PC, drag & recopy pkzip files to it.
We use continually for recording on Panasonic DVD recorder. You can watch any program on same disc you are presently recording on.
We've been using them for years. To clean I just reformat them.

These Ram Discs are impossible to find in stores. I was thrilled to find them on Amazon because they are the best blank discs to use for daily recording of a TV show. I have used the same one every day for almost 2 years with no problems. All I need to do after watching the full disc is reformat and start all over again. Why pay a TiVo fee every month when you only record one or two shows?...With my DVD recorder and these discs I save money, but still have flexibility in my viewing. I can also edit on these discs and also have the "chasing playback" feature.Digital camera Review: Perfect disk

I've never used a Ram disk before. Popped one into my Toshiba DvD recorder no problem. Didin't give 5 stars because I haven't been able to test full function of Disk.
