Digital camera Review: Had to return this phone twice

I've had Panasonic phones for many years. When time came to buy a new one, I chose this model. After 3 days, the screen on one of my handsets died. I went back and got replacement... After a week, the phone would hang, so I had to repower it to get it going. In a couple of days, several buttons went out of order on one of the handsets. After this I returned the phone and got the refund. Very frustrating experience.Digital camera Review: Happy with this phone

After reading the prior reviews, it seems like there are some quality control issues with this phone. I guess that I am one of the lucky ones as we're quite happy with this phone. There haven't been any issues of the sound cutting out, or other malfunctions.
The sound and range is better than our prior two Uniden sets(2.4 and 5.8ghz). The ringtones are a bit cheesy sounding and limited(midi sounds). The adjustable volume feature works well as it has 5 ringer levels and off. The answering machine and speaker phone work fine for us and the sound is clear. I'm not sure why others don't see they have messages or missed calls when it's clearly indicated on the handset screen? Also, the keypad is lighted in orange(it's about time Panasonic).
If I had one complaint, it would be the set up wasn't exactly intuitive (to me) when it came to storing names and numbers into groups and distinctive rings, distinctive colors, etc. I found myself getting a bit frustrated while setting up those features, but once it's done- it's done(and effective). If you have multiple handsets, you have to copy your phonebook to each handset. That is easy, however the phone won't copy group saving, and distinctive rings/colors to my knowledge. Storing that information is time consuming and involves too many steps in my mind. Consider that if you aren't a techie, because I'm a bit of a techie/gadget enthusiast and programming this phone simply was a chore.
I bought the set with the 3 additional handsets(c0stc0), and haven't had any issues with any of the handsets. Other than the non-intuitive, irritating menu navigation set up, I like this phone. Sharp looking unit, with good features.

I needed a phone with a headset jack, a system voicemail indicator, and caller ID. Initially I bought an AT&T, but I should have paid attention to the bad reviews of the AT&T phones because I soon discovered it was absolute junk. I bought this phone to replace it and the AT&T phone when straight into the trash.
I can't say anything bad about the Panasonic KX-TG8232. It does everything I wanted and more. If I try hard to find something negative to say, the only thing I can come up with is how the shiny black surface picks up fingerprints a little more than I would like, but that's it. I'll live with the fingerprints to have a phone this nice.

I've been using Panasonic's through 3 previous generations of frequency standards and expected this to be even better. Perhaps my expectations are to high, but this model does not deliver. All the more surprising given the price. Here are my impressions:
SOUND
With sensitive hearing, the constant static on the unit was the deal breaker. Even in intercom mode with the phone line unplugged, the type and volume of the constant static did not change. Other Dect Panasonic models rate well in sound quality, so I hope this is the exception.
RING
There are a variety of available 'ringtones' but they are just that, tones, like badly sythesized songs from early cell phones.
SCREEN
It comes with a color screen, but all this can show is text and the background image. But the text is limited to just a few poorly chosen colors and there are less than five images. Turn the background white and the text black, and you're left with the hard to read font.
Hopefully they will go better with the next iteration.

These phones are great. Everything I wanted and more. I use these phones on a reguarly basis for my business. I love that I can plug a headset in and go. It also has a speaker phone which was not talked about in the description. I'm going to order a couple more for the rest of my house.
