Digital camera reviews of Panasonic KX-TG6445T DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Answering System, Metallic Black, 5 HandsetsDigital camera Review: Cordless phone system Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent system. I threw away every other phone in the house with the exception of my cell phone and one corded unit for power outage dialing. The compact answering machine base unit and the caller voice annoucing feature get high points from me. This a must have if your thinking of a new household system.
Digital camera Review: DECT 6 cordless phone set with answering machine Summary: 5 Stars
This is an outstanding product. Voice transmission is very clear, the answering machine works right out of the box, and there is no interference from the microwave and other electronics or with the other electronics. It announces audibly and on the screen the caller ID information. It was very easy to set it up, and it works perfectly. It came at an outstanding price. It's definitely the best cordless phone set I have ever purchased.
Digital camera Review: Decent - Missing Attention to Detail Summary: 4 Stars
For some reason, like everything else in life, cordless home phones have to be about compromise. You would think one company would "get it," but I guess it's more profitable to produce 10 slightly different models instead of three different models that are easy to distinguish from one another.
15 years ago I swore I'd never buy another Panasonic ANYthing thanks to a lousy experience with their customer service department over a, yep you guessed it, cordless phone. And I kept my word until last week when I bought, yep you guessed it again, another Panasonic cordless phone.
Like most other reviewers here, I over-researched cordless phones to death. You almost have to as there doesn't seem to be a common feature set from any manufacture. Oh, and pretty much give up now on finding one that doesn't have a built-in answering machine.
Biggest Pro on this set:
Regular AA rechargeable batteries (this is what ultimately sold me along with the price)
Biggest Con:
Same non-intuitive menu system that was on the Panasonic phone from 15 years ago (in order to see or clear the missed call list, you have to go two levels deep into the menu).
Otherwise, this phone does what it should: Good call quality (wouldn't mind a little more volume), good range and good battery life.
One other annoyance - the main base unit and handset both have ringers. You can change the ring tone on the handset, but not the base. So when the phone rings you'll get two different sounds and, of course, you can't shut the base ringer off. Major annoyance? No, but like the menu system, what would it take to make this right? Five minutes of someone's time in Panasonic R&D actually using the phone as a phone before saying it's OK to release to the consumer? Maybe the more expensive models are better?
Anyway, four stars... it's a phone and does what it should. It makes and receives calls well. After a week of living with them, it still seems to be the best compromise of the different phones out there around this price level, for me.
Digital camera Review: Decent phone, decent price Summary: 4 Stars
Overall a good phone. We've set them up all over the house - basement, walk-in level and upstairs and it works great. The only area for improvement I see is in the menu setup. It is simply not intuitive. But other than that, great phone.
Digital camera Review: Died less than 2 years Summary: 2 Stars
I was very pleased with the cordless handset until it stopped working. We have only had the phone for less than 2 years so I was surprised that the best that Panasonic could do was offer a 15% discount on a new phone system(although it doesn't apply to all phones). Our other option was to spend $80 for them to repair it. Yeah, right. This is not a reliable phone.
