Digital camera reviews of Panasonic KX-TG9344T Dect 6.0 Expandable Digital Cordless Phone with Answering System, Metallic Black, 4 Handsets

Digital camera Review: As Advertised
Summary: 4 Stars

It's hard to justify buying new phones for the house with the option of using mobile phones only and saving a few bucks. However, it is nice not being attached to the mobile phone. I still justify a land line since I need to send a fax out every so often, and we also get unlimited nationwide calling anytime for a reasonable price. Also, it is nice that caller id appears on the TV screen.
The phone system is nice. I did a lot of comparing and research before buying this model. I like having 4 handsets. You can use the intercom feature within the house. Thought the talking caller ID would be nice, but it just got annoying after awhile. Took quite an effort to figure out how to shut it off since it had to be done on both the handset and base. Sound quality is good, and holds charge much longer than previous phones. Like the indicator light, and that you can control features for all phones from just 1 phone.

Digital camera Review: As Good as they get
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for a cordless set that had a keypad on the base in case I needed to use it. Since we have a habit of losing the handsets for a bit sometimes, it's useful to have the base to answer or make a call from in a pinch. Didn't really need 4 handsets, but it came with them, so.... They arrived very quickly, were easy yo set up and I haven't had a problem since we've been using them. Panasonic makes the best cordless in my opinion. We've tried others in the past, but not much luck. The range is good and the sound is clear. I also wanted one with lighted keys, so that was a plus with this set. Good value!

Digital camera Review: Awesome Phone
Summary: 5 Stars

This phone set installed easily and works well. It has more features than we'll ever use. Configuring the features that you do want to use is easy compared to some phone systems. The family was surprised when we got our first call with the new phone and before we answered the phone announced who the caller was with a clear audible human sounding voice. I would recommend this product to others.

Digital camera Review: Backlighting
Summary: 3 Stars

I just bought the Panasonic 9344T. I find it ridiculous that you can NOT select the amount of time for the backlight to stay on. It's only like 3 seconds. I called Panasonic and they said it's factory programmed and I can't adjust it. They said keep hitting a key to have it relight. Duh!!!
Also, the date does not show on the screen; only the time. I asked about that and they said no it won't show, it's only for the answering system.
No speed dial, no google 411 etc... When considering a phone, you can't read all about the phone without buying it and opening up the box to read the booklet.

I'm thinking of returning the unit after only 3 days......... Lena

Digital camera Review: Best of the current breed of DECT phones
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had a hard time finding cordless phones that have all the features that I am looking for. Foremost among these is talking caller ID. Panasonic is the only mainstream manufacturer that has phones with this feature. Although the KX-TG9344 is not perfect, it is the best of the phones I've looked at so far.

It utilizes DECT 6.0, which is the latest technology for cordless phones and is supposed to have greater clarity and privacy without having interference issues like the older 2.4 GHz phones. Not sure if this is primarily a marketing gimmick or not, but the Panasonic sounds clear and has good range. The screen is nice, and the handsets are smaller than previous generations of cordless phones (which is a pro or a con, depending on your personal preference).

Regarding the talking caller ID, it's a godsend not to have to get up to pick up the phone only to find out you have a telemarketer on the line. You have to subscribe to caller ID with your phone company, and not all the caller labels are always understandable, but the nice thing is that you have the option of putting in your own labels for folks in your address book. It usually takes a couple of rings for the talking caller ID to kick in, which is a bit of a drag.

The only things I wish the Panasonic had are a speed dial feature and larger "talk" and "end" buttons. I'm so used to hitting one key to call frequently-dialed numbers in my cell phone, that not having this feature seems strange on a cordless phone. Regarding the buttons, the two most frequently used buttons are "talk" and "end". Is there a reason why these aren't any bigger than the other buttons on the keypad? May be a case of form over function.

Minor gripes aside, the Panasonic stands out among the current generation of cordless phones. Having three extra handsets is also a major plus - means a lot less running between rooms to pick up the phone.
