Overall I love my camera. It gives great pictures and has so many features for its tiny size. The only thing I don't like is it seems to be a little slower recovering from flash pictures than I was led to believe, even with the battery fully charged. I am a professional photographer, but sometimes it is a pain carrying around an SLR. I chose this camera for the Leica lens (considered among the best optics), and the 10X optical zoom mainly, but it has many other features that I was very impressed with. The camera has a lot of extra features, such as face detection Auto Focusing that works very well. Also the intelligent Auto feature works great and you don't have to adjust anything on the camera to get a great photograph. The video mode is also very useful and impressive, allowing 15 min of video at a time at the highest resolution (2 megapixel at 16:9 ratio) until your card is full. I have an 8gb card and could do videos until the battery runs out. The best thing about this camera is that it works best on automatic, with great exposure, white balance, and fill flash. The only negative thing I have to say about the camera is to be careful of getting your finger in the way of the flash as it is next to the grip. This is my first point and shoot camera and I gotta say that im very satisfied with this product. The quality of the pics are great and the 10x zoom is amazing. I have previously owned a DMC-TZ3 and enjoyed it very much and originally purchased it for the zoom capabilities. However it was ruined by my best friend while on vacation so it needed to be replaced. Since I was familiar with the TZ3 and still had all the accesories (which are the same) I decided to buy the TZ4. Amazon had a great price and I ordered it on a Friday and recieved it on Monday. This was after I tried to save more money by purchasing a TZ4 from a place called HDCAMERAWORLD.COM. Avoid this place with a passion, its a total scam with sales people who all sound like a relative of Tony Soprano. In the long run Amazon was only $50 higher than them anyway. The TZ4 has many improvements over the TZ3. It takes much better pictures with only room lighting and no flash. The instant zoom button is also handy. There is a separate switch to playback photos so that you don't have to disturb the settings wheel on top of the camera. The zoom also can be operated while taking movies, where as the TZ3 zoom wouldn't function once the recording started. I didn't use the camera extensively, like on a trip, but I think it is a great a camera, my only take on it is that it doesn't have the time and date automatically printed on the pictures, I had to spend sometime to find how to do it, the camera provides a way to add them after you take pix but you have to make a reduced resolution copy of the original for that purpose, I used a settled on a freeware IrfanView. I liked being to zoom during taking videos. I also liked the quality of the few pictures I took at night. In general, it is a great camera.
