Digital camera reviews of Panasonic RF-P50 Pocket AM/FM Radio, SilverDigital camera Review: Best lil radio on earth. needs a belt clip. That's all I'm adding to it. Summary: 5 Stars
This radio is awesome. AA means ease of using rechargable batteries. So once you get something to recharge you AA batteries you don't have any more operating cost. That is the beauty of this technology. I love it.
The only thing I will add is a belt clip. It's going to be a custom job using an old pocket clip from a broken pocket knife I have laying around.
I'd like to carry it every day. Only weighs 5 oz.
I'm going to backpack with it because I can charge AA bateries in my solar charger... and did I mention it only weighs 5 oz, has great battery life and provides hours of free entertainment.
tuning is snappy and the light lets you know immediately when you have a lock.
Get it you will like it.
The speaker makes it better than an mp3 player because you can still hear what else is going on around you. It has a headphone jack if you still think you need it.
the lanyard can be used to hang the radio on a tree limb and is the right lenth. Just wrap the lanyard around the limb, belt, or something and slide the radio through the hole to hang it up without tying a knot.
I have an mp3 player but it is hard to charge in the woods and it cost $300 and the warenty is expired. I don't know what I'd do if I lost it. The Mp3 player doesn't have a speaker either and weighs too much as it is a big 120 GB zune. I like the mp3 but not being able to get a good charge on my solar charger led me to getting this.
The speaker in the unit is awesome. Very punchy bass simulation. like tapping a pringle chip top. nice! :) For what it is it is impressive. And you can't beat it for the price.
Digital camera Review: Built to look nice Summary: 1 Stars
Looks nice yes. But, that is about where it ends. Tuning is very difficult because the turns ratio between the thumb wheel and tuning capacitor is too course. Just a small rotation of the thumb wheel causes too much change of the tuning capacitor making it hard to hit the center point of a signal. Since AM tuning is non-linear, the effect is more pronounced at the high end of the AM band. Also, a typical pair of headphones with a stereo plug will not fit the radio's earphone jack. This is because both the radio and headphone jack are mono, not stereo. Sadly, for just a few cents more per unit, this could have been a very enjoyable stereo radio that works with existing stereo headphones. As it is, it's little more than a child's toy. On a positive note, the use of two AA cells rather than the typical 9 volt battery indicates a well designed and efficient circuit. This should enhance battery life as well as replacement cost efficiency. Summary: Impossible to use with stereo headphones. Ok for use as a cheap emergency radio to be kept with emergency supplies, etc. But, I would not recommend for every day use.
Digital camera Review: Buy the Sony.... Summary: 2 Stars
I bought two of these radios... they are IDENTICAL but one was made by Sony and one was made by Panasonic.... the Sony has MUCH better reception than the Panasonic but still not what I was hoping for.... Plenty of spots around where nothing could be reached on any frequency.
Digital camera Review: Buy this radio!!! It will change your life. Summary: 5 Stars
I remembered transistor radios from when i was a kid and this one does not disappoint. Outside raking leaves on a Saturday evening, there's a game on the radio, there's nothing like it. Time seems to slow down and for a bit. . . life is simpler and happier than it had been. Or on a hot Saturday afternoon, my wife and I may sit out on the patio with some beverages, she'll read and I'll stare off into space while I listen to the gentle ebb and flow of the play by play of a local baseball game. This one has great sound and tunes in very well. Batteries are very long lived in it. And for the price? Can you beat it? Slow down once in a while and be transported to the Saturday afternoon you imagined you'd have when you were a kid. Forget about things for a while. When it comes to unwinding, this is your ticket to sanity.
Digital camera Review: Classic "Transistor Radio" with Three Controls Summary: 5 Stars
This little gem reminded me how much I appreciate clean, straightforward design. Panasonic has done a marvelous job in recreating the classic "transistor radio" which fits perfectly in your hand. It's controlled by the three standard radio controls: (1) an off/volume wheel, (2) a tuning wheel, and (3) an AM/FM band slider. There's also a headphone jack, a telescoping antenna and a carrying strap. The sound from the tiny speaker is surprisingly good, and it can be heard from the next room at half volume.I bought one of these rather than paying money to MLB to hear baseball on the web. The reception is just fine in my basement apartment, which is more than I can say for my cellphone. And unlike the transistor radios of yore, it runs on two AA batteries.
