Digital camera reviews of Panasonic RF-P50 Pocket AM/FM Radio, SilverDigital camera Review: Good Radio Summary: 5 Stars
Good Radio for the price, my only complaint is that the stations wander, and I have to reajust to keep the station clear. This is to be expected because it is not a digital reciever. The sound is clear and the volume for a little radio is great! I am very happy all in all!!
Digital camera Review: Good little radio for the price Summary: 5 Stars
This little transistor radio gets great reception -- I can even get two different FM NPR stations inside my house. The sound quality is of course typical of a little radio, but for listening to news and talk shows, it can't be beat. I did notice if I'm walking around in the house with it, the reception goes in and out; I suppose that's typical.
Digital camera Review: Good pocket radio at a good price Summary: 4 Stars
A very good overall pocket radio with decent sound quality and a large, easy to read slide rule dial display. Reception quality and sensitivity on FM is very good, however AM is not as sensitive and only pulls in local stations clearly. The size of this radio is very convienient- it's one of the smallest pocket radios I've had. It is also very lightweight so it's easy to carry around. There's an indicator light on the front that shows when a station is tuned in, and a green indicator appears on the left side of the dial to show when power is turned on. The carry strap is convienient, and the antenna can be moved from side to side to get the best reception. However, the radio has one downside- in strong areas FM reception suffers from local station interference. Some stations tend to come in all over the dial. Aside from that, this is a very good pocket radio. If you're looking for a small radio to carry around or take with you to the beach, it's a very good choice. I'd highly recommend it.
Digital camera Review: Good product Summary: 5 Stars
Dog walking and sports news a good combination. Bought a sony and a panasonic from amazon, one of each hangs by the front and back doors. Top pocket no earphones allows me to remain alert to street noises and hear sport shows. Both work equally well.
Digital camera Review: Good sound, excellent FM, so-so AM. Summary: 4 Stars
I wanted a small portable radio to keep me entertained without weighing me down. I was surprised that this is not something you can buy locally anymore -- all the radios I found in retail stores were headphone only or had CD players which made them anything but small. One store had a Sony on a hang card that was so old, it only tuned to 1600 KHz -- the AM band was extended to 1700 KHz at least 10 years ago.
I found this little radio on Amazon, read the reviews, and figured for $10 it was worth taking a chance.
This radio is a solid performer on FM, it has good sensitivity, and even works well next to my computer -- many FM radios are useless in that situation.
The speaker delivers a surprisingly full sound for its size. It is powered by 2-AA cells with a claimed battery life of 95 hours on FM and 125 hours on AM.
The radio is a bit bigger than it appears in the photos but still fits comfortably in a pocket. The wrist strap is a nice feature.
Monophonic radios often have a headphone jack that will drive both ears of a stereo headset (in mono, of course). The connector on this radio is pure monophonic, that is if you plug in your stereo headset, the sound will come out of just the left channel.
The telescoping antenna does not completely retract into the radio case. Instead it retracts to about 4 inches, then it pivots at the attachment point until it is flush with the length of the set.
AM sensitivity is poor and the FM dial calibration is quite a bit off. This is probably the result of an internal mis-adjustment. I'll open it up this weekend and tweak the AM alignment (don't try it unless you know what you're doing!)
