The headphone themselves are adequate and they cancel noise fairly well.
Unfortunately, just a month after purchasng them, they have been rendered completely useless. They are, in fact, just about as useful as a chocolate teapot, or an inflatable, blowup Santa, or a one-legged man at an a** kicking contest.
Yes, they are.
These headphones are battery driven, which isn't a surprise or a problem in itself. Batteries are readily available afterall. The problem is, batteries no longer work in these headphones. The battery compartment is broken in some way. After changing the battery a mere 3 times, something has gone terribly wrong. The battery bay seems loose and I suspect poor contact is being made somewhere. A brand new battery yields a horrible pweeping sound as the little blue LED flashes to signify low power. Then, after about 15 seconds they fail.
I am so dissapointed by this. These things cost me a good $80+ and are essentially garbage after a month or so. Poor construction or build quality methinks. Buyer beware, yadda yadda.
Not happy.
Can anyone recommend a pair of noise cancelling headphones that have quality construction?

I recently purchased these headphones for my wife who travels a good bit. I held off purchasing them for myself. On our last trip we were on a regional jet that was very noisy. My older NC headphones did not remove enough of the noise. I used the HC-500 and was so impressed that I ordered a pair for myself.
I am very satisfied with the HC500. My wife says that they are equal to or better than the more expensive Bose.

These are the finest noise-cancelling headphones that I have ever owned. I compared them, using my iPod "Classic" 160Gb, to a friend's $300 Bose headphones and found no difference. I highly recommend them.
