Digital camera Review: Nice.. While it worked.

This frame was a great solution for my desk at work. I was able to show off more than 100 photos... for about 3 months. A couple of weeks after the 90 day warranty ended, the screen went blank and it won't come back on. I wrote to Pandigital, and not surprisingly, they haven't written back.
For $100, I would have expected it to last at least a year or two.

Pandigital 5.6-Inch LCD Digital Picture Frame
I recieved this frame for Christmas.It abruptly stopped working. There is a website but obviously no one ever checks the e-mail.I have sent them 3 e-mails without a response.I called the 1-800 customer service line and was put on hold for more than 20 minutes (my limit) and hung up. DO NOT buy this product ,there is alot better frames out there with good service if needed.

After reading the reviews here I was hesitent to even open the box after I unwrapped this present. Once I got it out of the box and all my photos onto the 512mb SD card I had the pictures were playing back beutifully for a while, then it just froze. I used irfanview (free software) to resize all my pics and it's been on and running in slideshow mode for dayas since with no problems. The resolution isn't fantastic but from anything more than a foot or two away pictures look perfect and with it sitting next to my other picture frames you really can't tell the difference between real photos and the ones displayed on screen in the digital frame. I waited for a product like this for a long time. I want a digital photo frame that takes memory card, not some online subscription through phone line. I plan to send the frame to my parents who are living overseas, and update them by sending them memory sticks, so that they could view it without touching a computer.
Unfortunately, after playing with it for 3 full days, I have to return it. These are the show stoppers:
1. I have a Sony DSC-T9, the camera connection does not work.
2. So I tried the memory stick, alas, it does not take Duo, and I don't have an adapter.
3. Next, I put the photos in a USB stick, finally the photos came up.
4. Now to the remote. There is a function called Setup that only could be activated from the remote. The remote has poor feedback, you are never sure whether the frame 'took' it or not. It is also bizarre, the screen is not doing what you press sometimes.
5. Then to video. I really don't need video, but since it is advertised as a feature, I think it is neat ... if it works. I am sorry to report that this product is just not ready for video - the video that I shot with Sony T9 does not work.
6. The box says it play MPEG1, but the manual says it only play MJPEG, and only in CIF. I then use a Ulead software to convert to that format and size ... sorry to report that I could not get it to play.
7. It hangs easily. I don't think I want to stay on the phone to tell my folks to turn on and off. They will simply lose interest.
I hope someone will put up a better product next Christmas.

My mother bought this item for herself and asked me to load pictures of the family on it for her. Transferring the photos from the card is simple enough - just plug it in, choose the card, press setup and then choose the copy option. Within that dialogue box, there is an option to copy all. The quality of the images, however, leaves much to be desired. The promo shot that is shown for this item is very misleading. The photos are grainy and dark, even at the highest brightness setting. I also could not get it to play videos at all. The frame just simply froze until I turned it off and back on again. Lastly, it seemed that photos kept "disappearing" after being loaded onto the frame. After two days of carefully selecting photos from my computer and transferring them to the frame, there were only a couple of dozen on the internal memory the next time I turned it on.
I haven't used any other digital frames because I've always thought they were a ridiculous waste of money, so I have nothing to compare this frame against...but I have to say that I'm glad I didn't buy one! I'll be happy to stick with old fashioned picture frames or an album. Besides, if I really want to see a slideshow of high quality digital images, I'll just turn on my screensaver!
