Digital camera Review: 6 month anniversary- works as advertised

Nothing to add to the other reviews- just wanted to mention that I have had this product running on two computers for over six months with only a couple minor issues.
It seems to get a little over-eager on the two week recal deadline- sometimes only a few days.
Occasinally it will disappear from my tray and needs to be restarted and then re-calibrated.
Other than that, no problems. A couple of test prints made with sRGB color space have been pretty darn close in color matching. It seems to be a little undersaturated on reds- but it could just as easily be my eyes and weird reflections.

I was constantly disappointed by the difference between the colors on my monitor and the output of my printer or commercial printers. After calibrating with the Huey, the colors match perfectly! The setup is quick and easy.
If you are at all serious about digital photography, you need to calibrate your monitor. The Pantone Huey is an inexpensive and accurate way to do just that.

This is a solid colorimeter. The software is simple to install and operate. I chose the Pantone brand because they've been doing color forever and should know how to do color calibration well. The price was reasonable also.
I found the Huey especially helpful after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard since that upgrade adjusted the Gamma setting from 1.8 to 2.2 (See more here: [...]). This adjustment makes images look brighter and less contrasty. Before installing the Huey I noticed the images I uploaded to Flickr looked darker than expected, which reflected the OS X Gamma change from 1.8 to 2.2. This was frustrating and the only way to fix it was to calibrate my monitor. Huey was a great solution and everything looks fine now.
Not everyone needs to run out and buy this. If you are just shooting family snapshots with a point and shoot, any colorimeter is probably overkill. Pro photographers need more a more advanced tool to manage both monitor color and printer color and that's not what the Huey does. I recommend this purchase to serious amateur photographers out there who are concerned with their prints returning as expected from the printer.

This product is a MUST HAVE for any photographer or gamer who needs accurate color in their monitors. I finally have matching colors on my screen and in my prints! The automatic adjustment for room light is a neat little feature, it ensures that my screen is accurate in any lighting situation. It is better than not having it but still leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe it is my monitor or just as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for and it is much less expensive than Pantones other calibration products.
