Digital camera Review: Calibrating monitor makes a huge difference

Before calibrating my monitors, it was very challenging to get a print to match the image I see on the monitor. The Huey calibration is very effective, and I can now be confident that even very subtle hues will look as expected on my prints. I have had no trouble with the huey sticking to the screen long enough for calibration on either CRT or LCD. I wish I had bought one sooner.Digital camera Review: Calibrating printer

W ithout the calorimeter, my monitor photo and the resulting print on an HP professional photo printer had discrepencies in color matching. With the Huey calibrater the print and the monitor photos were close enough to the point where it was difficult to notice differences. I am very well satisfied with the unit that removed the frustation every time I made a print from my digital camera. This device is not rated all that well among professionals. However being a graphic designer myself, with the sole intention of calibrating my new 21 inch lcd and 17 inch laptop so my designs looked alike when switching between the two, something over 100$ seemed overkill. You will not get perfect results with this device there is no doubt about that... you get what you pay for. But if you are looking to match colors on several monitors and want them to be MUCH closer to the true color, atleast closer than you could get them with adobe gamma or a similar program, this is what you are looking for. One really nice feature is the "eye" for lighting, bring it with you in your laptop case and set it up at the beginning of your session, your colors will look much better.
In its own review I would rate 5 stars, but compared to dropping a little more money for a "professional" calibration system and getting true colors, I have to give this a 4.

I bought the Huey because I wanted to calibrate the color on my monitors. I bought it knowing that it was compatible with the Argyll CMS. Argyll was much better than the included software. I am very satisfied with the combination of the Huey with Argyll.Digital camera Review: Color most true

I was first introduced to a Huey by the senior most photographer in our office, a man with nearly over 40 years experience in the field. As soon as I could, I added one to my home system and have never stopped using it. I now have two, carrying one with my laptop.
