Digital camera reviews of Passport Essential 2.5" 320GB USB Hard DriveDigital camera Review: 2nd time is not the charm Summary: 1 Stars
I have unfortunately purchased two of the drives and have had both fail in under a year.
I've used Western Digital drives extensively in internal desktop versions (I work in IT), and felt comfortable enough buying an external drive from them. I needed something small and super portable as I do a lot of traveling and need to back up my work daily. The passport series appeared to fit my needs perfectly.
Design wise it seemed solid and small enough to fit in my pocket if need be. However, case noise and heat turned out to a serious issue during use.
The first drive failed after using it for nine months or so, which irked me, but as drives are prone to flukey behavior, I was willing to buy another. The second failed exactly eight months after purchasing it.
I have since moved on to Seagate and couldn't be happier. I plan on NEVER buying another Western Digital drive, internal or external.

Really great product. It has a lot of storage space.. Not much entertainment value though, unless u upload a film on it. LOL. If u looking for storage space, this is the product to have!!
Digital camera Review: 320 GB in My Pocket Summary: 4 Stars
This was an "on the whim" purchase that was quite a deal on sale. I had been looking for a physically smaller external hard drive that was larger than 100 GB for quick back ups. I am very satisfied.
Digital camera Review: 320 or 298?? and what would u take to EJECT safely Summary: 4 Stars
I was a bit disappointed to plug the hard drive in and just find 298 GBs of space on it, instead of the advertised 320. Then I did some googeling and found out that this is a scam run by all the hard drive makers when they say they count in the decimal system (1GB = 1000 MBs)whereas the rest of the computer world works in binary (1GB = 1024 MBs)...This is they very very cheap way of fooling customers which I didn't like...
Secondly this particular brand of hard drives has a problem in trying to remove them safely, which I found out after I bought this product...you need to shut down the computer to remove it or remove it "unsafely"...
I don't know if there is a better product out there but if there is then go for that...
Digital camera Review: 320GB WD Passport Hard Drive Summary: 4 Stars
This has been a great help to me in copying, moving or sharing files on my laptop with my desk top computers. It's easy to use and has worked with no problems so far. I'm probably going to buy another one soon. I highly recommend it. It arrived in great condition and on time.
