This is my second WD Passport drive as the first (160GB) has been very reliable. I bought the 320GB to back up and share files between my home and office PCs. The speed is a bit lacking, but this is a portable drive and it doesn't require external AC, so I can forgive its slowness. Its convenience factor is just great, and 320GB (~=298GB as reported by Windows) is lots of storage for on-the-go needs. I recommend this highly as a portable storage solution -- and the drive is quite stylish.Digital camera Review: BAD when i got it, GREAT NOW!

i bought this to store all my songs as well as bluray and HD movies. The only BAD thing about this is once you get it, you should format it because you cant store anything at once over 4gb. i dont see the reason why they wont all come formatted. i bought this and thought there was something wrong with it and was about to send it back until i did my research and discovered that it has to be formatted first!! other than that, great product.Digital camera Review: Back up Drive for my laptop computer

It is an "oops".
Seems I didn't research enough to know it doesn't have it's own backup program embedded. I was spoiled with my Maxtor which did have a great and easy program.
I have to re-format this external drive and then use Windows XP's own program to preform a back up.
I hope it will do what I need but I have yet to sit down an run the re-format disk exercise.
Next time I'll be sure Western Digital Essential Edition 320 GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive WDH1U3200N(my purchase) comes with it's own software.
