Digital camera Review: Added Benefit
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had my Patagonia case for a few weeks now. My first case was the Belkin case which doesn't allow for reading the Kindle while still in a jacket.

The Patagonia case gives you a few options for giving your Kindle a more "book-like" feel when reading. You can hold it just like a book or double it back to read it more as a tablet.

It has a storage pocket inside that's great for tucking in a few dollars or a debit/credit card and ID so it's all you need for an afternoon in the park or at the beach.

But the best feature for me are the handles. I don't use them as carrying handles, but rather, I think they make a great way to hold the Kindle when reading. Just slide your fingers thru - resting the "binding" in the palm of your hand. Works for either hand and secures the Kindle even if you doze off while reading!

Digital camera Review: Allegedly Despicable Zippers Actually Work ...
Summary: 5 Stars

Received this item (purchased at the recently reduced price) minutes ago and the first thing I tried out were the horrific zippers I'd read so much agonized commentary on in these reviews. They work fine. The first two times I used them I needed to pinch the corners of the cover together lightly as the zipper passed around; from then on -- flawless operation, with or without the device inside. I have a grippy Speck hard case on my Kindle, and it fits perfectly into the corner tabs. Build quality is fine and the padding is adequate protection for the Kindle when stowed in a purse or backpack. It's pretty much feather light and less bulky than the photo suggests. Appearance is neat and sporty as opposed to elegant (color options would be nice but the black is good). The handles are designed to secure the case to your hand (either left or right) while you are reading, not to carry the case around. Haven't dropped it yet so no survivability data to cite, but several other reviewers have reported excellent results.

Hard to account for the disparity in the comments by other consumers. Possibly there were QC problems at the factory at some point (?). Also the initial pricing (although in line with most of the other better non-leather cases) likely had the effect of magnifying any difficulties or disappointments. Right at the moment, though, the price is about right (at least at Amazon) -- and better than most of the competition. The apparent $40 standard for this category has seemed inflated and really needs to settle at a lower equilibrium point.

Digital camera Review: Almost...
Summary: 2 Stars

I initially liked this case alot.. it's water proof and keeps dust clear from the kindle 2, but twice now when walking around the house a bit while reading( A MUST WHEN YOU HAVE 3 BOYS UNDER 5) the kindle has come loose of the coner straps and ALMOST fallen to the floor.. I am now looking for a new case and wish I had not purchased this one. It would be fine if all you wanted to do was store it!!

Digital camera Review: An OK product.
Summary: 2 Stars

The case is OK. It is not very good holding the Kindle in place. The Kindle slips out of the corner elastic holders. The case is OK for keeping the Kindle safe if it falls as long as the case is closed. Without the case being closed there is a good chance the Kindle will be damaged in a fall. The case is universal, i.e., it is produced for more than the Kindle and is, therefore, not really a good fit. I would not recommed the case to anyone since it is overpriced and not a very good fit.

Digital camera Review: An almost perfect case for my Kindle.
Summary: 5 Stars

The Patagonia case scores over other Kindle cases on all of the following counts combined:

- It can be closed from all sides. It helps to avoid any dust or water to get in from either side.
- Its polyester shell makes it water resistant.
- The four catch straps hold the Kindle snugly.
- Its easy to read the Kindle while in the case as well as to take it out if preferred.
- The zipper is designed in such a way that Kindle doesn't flip-flop inside the case and keeps steady.
- Its internal padding on front and back provides a required cushion for Kindle.
- The pocket inside helps you to carry an extra padding or a cleaning cloth for Kindle.
- Its very portable, especially with its carrying handles.
- It looks decent.
- Finally, considering the price of other cases, which do not even provide half the security, the Patagonia case is not too expensive.
