Digital camera reviews of Patagonia Kindle Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle)

Digital camera Review: Decent case
Summary: 3 Stars

This is a quality Patagonia product. It is, however, a bit boring I would of liked it in another color it also has these weird handles makes you say Huh? And I wonder how long the elastic that keeps the Kindle in place will last.

Digital camera Review: Decent case if you're having trouble finding a case for your iPad
Summary: 3 Stars

The best thing about this case would be it's durability and portability. It doesn't look too fancy and although the silicon case for the iPad is light and easy to use, it doesn't do quite what this does in terms of keeping it safe and visible to the naked eye.

I would like to keep this case for as long as possible over any other iPad cases I own, it's definitely not the best but I can't complain and you know why.

If I could change something about it? Maybe the appearance but I wont say any more cause I am hardly a designer or ever contribute to that sort of thing.

Buy this case if you have portability as your number one criterion.

Regards.

Digital camera Review: Decent storage/carrying case, but not for reading
Summary: 3 Stars

Pros:
* Tough, well made (dense nylon, good zippers)
* Attractive, unobtrusive

Cons:
* Doesn't work well (my opinion) as a holder while reading
* Insufficient space for storage of charger plug (will fit, but bulges)
* No "stiffening" to protect against mechanical stresses.

This is a good-looking case that works reasonably well; the corner straps hold the Kindle in place, but (a) it slips out easily and (b) it's tricky enough to insert that you don't want to do it often. Since it adds a lot to the bulk of the Kindle, I found that I did not want to keep the Kindle in the case when reading. Thus, this becomes exclusively a storage/carrying case, not a full-time enclosure.

As a carrying case, it's well made but (a) doesn't accommodate the charger plug w/o an unsightly and potentially dangerous bulge and (b) doesn't provide much "stiffening" (to protect against mechanical shear stresses that might occur if it's sat upon or mishandled in soft luggage.)

OK case, but I'm still looking for a better one.

Digital camera Review: Disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

When I ordered my Kindle Case I didn't look at the picture close enough otherwise I would not have ordered it. My friend had gotten one right after Kindle came out and I really liked hers. Hers was also made by Patagonia. Hers had a pocket and elastic strap on the inside which was great for putting other things in. This newer one the elastic holding for putting the Kindle in are way to small and the Kindle keeps sliding out of them. Not a good feature.

As I stated I am really disappointed in this model and wish I had not purchased it but I have yet to find another model that would be any better. Not sure why the one like my friends was discontinued but this newer one does not fit the Kindle that well.

Not a happy customer.

Digital camera Review: Disappointing
Summary: 3 Stars

The title of my review says it all. This cover is sadly a disappointing product. Having done research via various other reviewers here on Amazon, I thought I was buying a quality Patagonia product. Knowing Patagonia has a reasonable reputation in the outdoor industry, I also bought based on the Patagonia reputation.

I received the cover in prompt fashion from Amazon and immediately started using it. I loved the "slim line" feel, handholds and loop that I could use to fish my Kindle out of the depths of a pocket or bag. It's build quality seemed second to none. Unfortunately, the "honeymoon" was soon over.

The first issue I noticed was the zipper was a little tight around the corners. Not a big issue, it was new and to be expected. Then I noticed that when I opened the cover the elastic on the top left corner keep popping off. Again not a big issue it was new. Three weeks down the track the zipper was still very tight and the corner would not retain the Kindle. I even had a close call when opening the cover, somebody bumped into me and my Kindle was almost knocked out of the cover.

That was the last straw, I returned the cover for a replacement in the hope that it was just a manfacturing fault. My hopes where soon dashed when the replacement arrived. I immediately noticed that this time both the top elastic retaining loops seemed a lot smaller than the bottom two. Also, that there seemed to be more webbing material used on the hand holds. As a test I put my Kindle in the cover, closed it up and then opened it. This time BOTH top retaining straps popped off. It was sent straight back to Amazon for a refund.

In summary:

Pro's:

- Slim line design
- Solid materials
- Handholds and loop

Con's:

- Construction quality control issues
- Tight zip

Frankly, I expect a cover from Patagonia to be essentialy bombproof and not suffer the issues that the two covers I have had.

Disappointed, Patagonia, disappointed.
