Digital camera reviews of Peek Mobile E-mail Device (Cherry)Digital camera Review: Mobile email holdout ... no more! Summary: 5 Stars
So I have been a mobile email holdout for about 5 years now. It wasn't that I thought that mobile email was a bad thing - I always knew that it's basically essential these days. However, I was turned off by two big things.
Firstly, most mobile email devices are big and ugly. Who wants to carry around a brick with buttons?
Secondly, the cost of most "smart phones" is outrageous. The amount of money that I have to fork out every month for my phone is bad enough. Having to buy an expensive new device and pay extortionate monthly fees for two years was the last thing I wanted to do.
Happily for me, Peek solved both of these problems. They've produced what appears to be the slimmest device on the market. It looks good, it's dead easy to use, it's only $19.95 a month, and there are no contracts. Perfect!
Digital camera Review: Mom loves it Summary: 5 Stars
My mom is crazy about her new Peek! She loves the simplicity, ease of use and rarely even touches the computer in her den anymore! The Peek has really brought mobile email to someone that I never thought would 'get it.' And there's definitely something to say about that.
Digital camera Review: Not worth it. Summary: 2 Stars
Leo Franklin is right on. This is a sleek, promising device that ultimately is not worth the money. The biggest problem, one that Peek seems to have addressed with the Pronto, is not receiving push emails. Anyone, even the most casual user, will get time-sensitive emails that need to be read within minutes or hours, and the Peek simply cannot be relied on to deliver emails within a timely fashion.
Another problem I encountered is the UI design--the "simple" scroll wheel definitely takes some getting used to. This coming from someone in interactive marketing, so I'm familiar with the UI of most mobile devices and quick to learn. Still I found myself (gasp!) having to consult the manual to perform some operations.
I had no problems with reception (in San Francisco), but the lack of push email rendered this device useless to me within the first month. I had prepaid for three months, but canceled early. I simply stopped using the Peek. I can't recommend it to anyone.
Digital camera Review: Peek can be a life saver!! Summary: 5 Stars
The PEEK can be a lifesaving device while traveling. Last year I was in LA during the time of the earthquake, and early in the AM the following day, the hotel emergency alarm was activated. Electricity was off for several minutes, but I was able to make my way out of the hotel safely by pressing the keypad of my PEEK. It actually gave off enough light for several of us to make it down the hallway and out the emergency exit. I will NEVER travel without it. TRULY, a potential lifesaving source of LIGHT.
I recommend this product for everyone.
Digital camera Review: Peek is the perfect fit for me! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using my Peek for a while now.. and I am a fan! I had a Blackberry Pearl before, but now I would never go back since there's nothing more annoying than T9.. the full qwerty keyboard is just right. Simple is good. I like the fact that it is so intuitive and even when I had a question and called Peek's customer care, I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't hung up on, ignored or transfered endlessly like every other time I had to call customer care. And the best part is that there's no contract and it's cheaper.. which is key for someone who's budget-conscious like me :)
