Digital camera reviews of Pentax DSLR Crossover Bag

Digital camera Review: Not Bad
Summary: 4 Stars

this bag is a imitation of the Lowepro slingshot 100aw, but without all the bells and whistles, and for half the price.

Digital camera Review: Not what I needed
Summary: 3 Stars

This is a well made bag but is way to small to be useful with the camera with the vertical battery pack attached. Also with the lens I normally use there is not room fo more than a small flash in the bag.

Digital camera Review: O K bag, but not very protective
Summary: 2 Stars

This bag is functional, but not especially well made or well padded. I am kinda surprised that Pentax put their name on it.

Digital camera Review: Okay bag for the special price...
Summary: 3 Stars

Bought the bag 10/3/09 as it was on sale for a decent price. Then several days after I purchased, price kept falling here and there but Amazon refused to concede to crediting me because I had already ordered it. (rating of product not influenced by this).

The bag is a bit tight for my Nikon D70s with the 18-70mm lens. I used the bag occasionally here and there and a few weeks after purchase a nylon/yarn piece of the zipper tie came loose. No big deal, I put a key ring around the zipper to help in zipping/unzipping the bag.

Major outing and reason for purchase was a vacation to Disney World from 11/14/09 - 11/23/09. While on vacation the nylon loop at the top of the bag started ripping. Now mind you, I only had the body/lens, 55-200mm lens and misc accessories (hood, cloth, spare CF card, etc) inside the bag, so it was not that heavy. As we walked through WDW there were times I used a carabiner/D-link to hold the bag to my backpack to keep my hands free. This is when I started noticing the rip in the loop.

Today is 11/24/09 and during our unpacking process I went to unzip the bag to inspect the camera. The other nylon/yarn piece came off the other zipper! This was the last straw. I called Amazon and asked what they would do to correct this and the CSR offered to refund my purchase price, plus I don't have to send the bag back to them. Nice response compared to the opening issue.

Long story short, this is a decent bag for occasional/light to moderate use. But if you're going to use it moderately or beyond OR want to ensure the better constructed product, I would recommend something along the Lowepro type branding (even though this appears to be a knock-off).

The size of what it holds would make most amateurs happy. Body, 2 lenses, external flash (Nikon SB400 with no problems, but SB600 may pose a tight fit), and misc extras. Even though it appears this item is discontinued, I will be posting pictures of the problems I encountered as listed above.

Digital camera Review: One problem

I just wish the Pentax logo wasn't on the bag LOL - total red flag for Mr. Sticky Fingers to follow you.
