Digital camera Review: An OK Document Scaner

This scanner is just an OK document scanner. Not a great scanner. It gets the job done but don't ask too much from it. It can scan a photograph, it just doesn't do a good enough job. Old glossy polaroids that don't have any grain in them end up being grainy when scanned using the DS. Don't buy it if you want to scan any photo's. I made the purchase to scan receipts and it does an ok job. Due to the design of the scanner, it definitely needs to be handled just right to get anything useful out if it. I purchased the scanner to fulfill the hardware requirement for a program Receipt Wallet I was purchasing. The scanner was one of the models that was recommended for the program as well as being the cheapest. For scanning receipts and documents to be used as a digital copy and archive, it fills the bill.
As far as portability, it's great. The scanner doesn't take up much room and it draws it's power from the USB port. It comes with a bag to store it in (to keep the dust out when not in use) as well as a detachable mini-USB - USB cord.
Receipt Wallet and it's buddy, Document Wallet are great little programs. I have a MacBook and they work wonderful with it and have delivered as advertised. I can't comment on how the scanner works with the Windows platform but for Mac, paradise.

I got this for xmas, and I have used it for scanning many insurance documents. The clarity and accuracy is top notch. I have only used it to scan about a hundred different pages so far, and no problems. I have not scanned any photos or small pieces of paper like receipts yet. But I have looked long and hard at all the options out there and I have not been disappointed with this purchase. I really like the "re-scan" this page option if you get a bad feed or the paper slips you can finish the scan then redo it right on the spot, then move on with the rest of the sheets. The speed isn't stellar, but it moves right along for a single sheet scanner and as long as you have a nice flat surface to set it on you'll be fine. I bought this scanner for traveling and work related scanning in teh field. As luck would have it I used it the day after I installed it on my computer. It functions well and the scan qulity is very good the only problem I have was getting a business card to feed straight but the software took care of that problem. It scanned the documents I needed and although it a little slow it works great. I was looking for a travel scanner that was easy to operate, scans clearly with color, and very durable for the travel. I found it...this is it! Excellent scanner....the one button operation makes this an even better device than what I expected. Clear scans to a PDF file, and easily stores in my computer case (no extra hands needed). I highly recommend this scanner to anyone who is on the go, and needs a scanner to keep up with them. The price is very reasonable, and seems to be better than the more expensive models. A+
