Digital camera reviews of Pentax DSmobile 600 ScannerDigital camera Review: Clear scans & easy to use! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm spoiled on scanners, after working in a large corporate office for years. Since switching to an at-home position, I've been jonesing for some way to scan as I used to, and free up my desktop from all the paper.
I read the other reviews on this scanner, then trolled the Pentax site itself before ordering.
Scanner arrived quickly, and setup was very easy, AND it is very very easy to use. Mind the instructions about the number of pages you can load at a time, otherwise the scanner will pull several sheets in at once.
I save all my scans as Adobe Acrobat (pdf) files, and I own the latest full version since I need to manipulate some scans for reports and presentations, but a current version of Acrobat Reader is all you need to see your scans if you choose the pdf option...and Reader is free (go to www.adobe.com, look for the Reader logo on the home page).
Colors scan pretty true to the original, and handwritten notes, as long as the ink is dark, will scan clearly as well (dark pencil will scan pretty well, but light blue, purple, light pencil will scan faintly, if at all).
NOTE: remember to set the paper size BEFORE scanning (i.e. legal size, or smaller than letter size), otherwise your scan will be cut off on larger hard copies, and you'll have a large file with lots of white space on a small hard copy.
The scanner fits easily into my overhead bin-sized luggage when I travel, and works wherever, since the power source is your pc or laptop...no need for a separate cord or worry about a/c power adaptability.
All in all, a very good buy! Nice job, Pentax.
Digital camera Review: Compact and Easy To Use Summary: 5 Stars
This desktop scanner is so easy to use, and even easier to store. It's tiny. I run an insurance agency and have used this to e-mail documents quickly. The scan quality is good, not great, but good. For documents to be scanned, it's the perfect fit. The price was $113 when I bought it, which I feel was a great deal. I've loaded the software (piece of cake) to all 3 computers in the office, and it's so portable and easy to use. All we've got to do is simply plug in the USB cable (which also supplies power), insert the document, and press the only button on the machine. It's dummy-proof. I highly suggest this for an office setting. As for photo scanning, I don't have a need to scan, so I coudn't offer any advice there.

Love it - doesn't take up much room on my desk and is incredibly easy to use.
Digital camera Review: Compact scanner; not a fast one Summary: 4 Stars
Get this scanner as something to use while traveling with a netbook or notebook computer. It's simply too slow to put up with on a desktop machine. I use it with an Asus 1000he netbook & found that it works on a USB port power suply even on full computer battery power. However, it's a pain slipping each and every page in the slot & waiting for the relatively slow scan. This scanner is for someone who really, really hates any additional weight to haul around with the notebook.
Digital camera Review: Completely unsatisfactory for MAC Summary: 1 Stars
Will not scan anything at all. Tried three different scan programs with same result. Support won't/can't help with MAC problems. "Oops, its the MAC"
