Digital camera reviews of Philips 6.5-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Wood)Digital camera Review: Awesome frame!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 3 of these Philips frames in the past month for gifts. They are awesome. No trouble with any of them. I read a lot of reviews before hand which was very helpful and made my experience with the frames trouble-free. The best way (which I read from someone else) to put photos on, is to buy the $9 all-in-one card reader (USB device) which reads a variety of memory cards. This acts like a little hard drive then. Put all your photos on the card in a folder (not on the main level or root). Then insert the card into the frame and you are done! No problems at all! I did not copy any of the photos onto the frame memory, only the card, so I can edit my library whenever I want easily from my computer and dump the new library on the card.
I prefer the Metal frame also, the wood frame is plastic, it looks kind of cheazy and very disappointing. They should describe to you its painted plastic, NOT wood at all! Otherwise very happy so far!
Digital camera Review: Best digital frame out there! Summary: 5 Stars
I have/had digital frames from three different vendors and the Philips is by far the best product on the market today. The screen is very bright and crisp. Photos look better on this frame than most flat panel computer monitors. The whole thing exudes quality.
It's fairly easy to operate out of the box. I don't think I even looked at the manual to get it up and running.
A couple jpgs mysteriously gave it a problem and the slideshow would hang. It must have been some kind of file corruption, because I re-saved the jpgs on my PC, re-transferred to the memory card and it displays them fine.
I've heard many people say this makes a great gift for grandparents. True, but no matter what age, this is a must have. Forget putting your favorite pictures on your PC desktop...they get covered up anyway. Buy this frame for your desk, you'll be happy you did. I'm getting another when they come back in stock!
Digital camera Review: Best in this category! Summary: 5 Stars
After extensive research I decided to buy this frame and I am very happy with it. The picture quality (resolution, brightness, colors) is excellent and it's very easy to use. It would be nice if it accepted photos with 4:3 ratios - straight from the cameras. The photos have to be converted to 3:2 ratio to be displayed without black margins.
Digital camera Review: Broke within a week Summary: 1 Stars
Mine broke within a week of use. The screen went blank and I could not reset it through power cycling or the reset button. Now it is a useless piece of silicon. I was using a 1GB CF card with 800MB of jpeg photos.
After reading the other reviews, I don't plan to hassle with returning it. I plan to never buy another Philips product and send them a letter. I'll take apart the unit and see what I can learn about it.
Digital camera Review: Clear and Sharp Summary: 5 Stars
There is only one primary function of a digital picture frame...to display pictures. The Philips 6.5-inch digital picture frame does this in an exemplary way. It is sharp, with far more pixels than many (if not most) of it's competitors. The result is a clear and bright display that can be looked at from near distances as well as far. This model, with the wood framing, is good looking and is traditionally styled. The same display is also available with a clear acrylic plastic surround, if you want a more modern look.
Long and short of it...I highly recommend this over the budget models. It's at the higher price end, but the price is worth it....you're buying more than just a brand name.
